What is the purpose of indexcleaner.exe?

What is the purpose of indexcleaner.exe? Why does it automatically place run itself on startup out of the registry? I specified that I did not want MRU blaster in the startup folder -- so what's this doing in the registry?

If you select to run the IE Temporary Internet Files Cleaner plug-in or the Cookie Blaster plug-in (or both) the indexcleaner.exe is set to run on startup to clean files (namely, the index.dat files) that are locked during normal Windows usage (basically, it is runs before Windows locks those files).

In future versions/updates of MRU-Blaster, there may be an option to disable this functionality (although with it disabled the index.dat files won't be securely shredded, so there is still a chance of recovering browsing data). However, there may also be an option in future versions to clean out certain data from within the index.dat files while Windows is running. :)

If both plug-ins are disabled, this will not occur.

i ran into this problem, and have been at a loss to see where it actually runs (now it is clear since it is a RunOnce entry. Would be nice that since the program isn't updated, that the readme at least would mention this.

I have been using MRU-Blaster to clean up a master lab image prior to use, and this one time run of IndexCleaner has been driving me crazy!

At least I can document what it is doing, or clean the RunOnce key before saving image.
