Forget trying to build a desktop PC. Simply buy a good laptop that is pre configured (ie: somthing like the HP Pavilion dv1175 at $1500 would make a good choice). It has everything you'll need: DVD burner, variety of card readers, built in WIFI with bluetooth, 1gig of ram, 100gig HD, beautiful wide format screen, will run 8hrs between charging and is portable! Desktop PC's are useless.

Actually Desktop PCs are better for gaming and cost less.
