anyone installed win xp pro over win 98se

Nope, I didn't try it, but since XP uses NTFS-file system, while 98 was still on FAT/FAT32, and since I believe XP will just reformat the drive to be able to install itself, it will work very well but for the fact that all data on the partition will be lost and destroyed.

So, first save the data you want to keep, either on another partition or on a removable medium.

Just my two cents...

Yes 98 can be upgraded to XP BUT!!!!!
works better to do a clean install, back up if you can and format the drive, install a nice clean copy. That is if you have one HD not partioned.
IF you have a partitioned HD and/or another HD
YES you can install XP on another HD or another partition and keep 98
ANY you get a DUAL boot (98 and XP) so you can choose to boot to any one
XP works on FAT32 BUT better format to NTFS.

Yes you can install 98SE and XP together....but if you want all three drives to be visible from 98SE you'll have to keep FAT32.

I myself use NTFS anyway ;D
