"The internet is a very perfect place where users can find and download almost everything they want, including suspicious tools which later will be used in an attack. In this place CyberSight from Cryptic Software comes in.
The software, through and agent, is designed to sit on all computers in the enterprise and identify illicit files - pornography, trojans, hacking tools - at the time of their creation. Information which was collected is reported back to the server where further action can be taken. "
The new agent is a combination of heuristic analysis and a threats database. According to Cryptic Software, the database currently holds about 500,000 different file signatures, but is expanding all the time. If the software has to cope with threats that do not have a signature, a special engine - Shape Engine - is being used for heuristic analysis.
CyberSight has been coded with a optimisation in mind. User won't be aware of this background processing, and it can hide itself for protection. The control of the software is done through a central management console and an event server.
