I run ie-spyad, spyware blaster and Spybot's immunize. I just recently noticed that none of the sites that should be in the restricted zone of IE are showing up in the site list. I have removed the protection for all three programs and reenabled them, still nothing. Any ideas on what acould cause this? Running WINXP HOME with all the updates. :-\

Hi NAMOR,

Are you using IE-Spyad2? If you are, as noted on Eric L. Howes' site for IE-Spyad (http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/resource.htm), there is a difference between using IE-Spyad and IE-Spyad2. See quote below, and Eric's site for further information:
{QUOTE-> Side Effects:

When you install IE-SPYAD2 you should be aware of two side effects of using system-wide settings as opposed to user-specific settings for the Restricted sites list.

First, if you've added sites to the Trusted sites zone, the new Restricted sites may not show up in the Restricted sites box (Tools >> Options >> Security). This appears to be a quirk of Internet Explorer. What's happening is that Internet Explorer won't display sites loaded in the HKLM Registry hive (from IE-SPYAD2) if there are sites already loaded in the HKCU hive (from the Trusted sites zone).

Even though the Restricted sites may not display, however, Internet Explorer will still use the block list to restrict sites covered by the list.

Second, one other downside to using system-wide settings is that non-administrator users in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP may not be able to see and edit the Restricted sites list in Internet Explorer. <-QUOTE}Hope the above is helpful.

Regards,

snap

Thanks snapdragin,

Well I have no idea what caused my problem. I did however fix it with a system restore point from 4 days ago. Its been weeks since I have installed anything new (except for windows updates). I scanned my system with everything I can think of and nada. Maybe I was sleep walking and decided to play with the registry. ::) ;D

Hi NAMOR,

Just for the record...are you using the original version or 2 (all users)?

Original recipe. It's actually been a month or so since I have updated IE-SPYAD. I remeber checking the resticed zone right after my last update and all was well.
