What more Do I need to protect my PC?

I am using WinXP with SP2 on my 1.4Ghz Celeron M and 256 MB RAM notebook PC which is connected to a LAN of 300 PCs. I am using the following:

Resident AV: Avast Prof 4.6

On-Demand AV: Bitdefender Free, ClamAV, Antivir

Anti-trojan: Ewido and a2 free.

Anti SPyware: SPybot with resident Tea-Timer, Adaware, Spyware Doctor, Spyware Blaster, SpySubtract.

Browser: Firefox 1.0.2

Others: Eprompter, WinXP Firewall, Ace Utilities.

What more do I need to protect my PC from security breaches and nasties? Please suggest some freewares as I am terribly out of cash!!! :P

Please give suggestions to improve my system's security.

Maybe a software firewall?

Kerio,Sygate,ZA,Outpost (freebie versions) etc

or Netveda/Jetico/Chx-I if you are up for something complicated

Harden your windows

with secureit/hardenit

And into the realms of complicated stuff you can maybe also go for one of those anti-hook/host intrusion systems if you are up to it.

I would go with Prevx cause PG free only protects ONE application and itself I think. So you could have it protect avast! from unintentional closing by malware. Prevx on the other hand provides a different protection. It protects certain vulnerable areas of your system as to stop malware from installing in the first place. In all honesty I haven't used Antihook.

Prevx Home without a doubt . More things are protected . More of a program than the others . Free versions only . Paid is a different story . Go with Prevx and see how it goes for you . Good luck

Aside from a firewall, I would strongly recommend web-filtering software like Proxomitron (www.proxomitron.info). Not only can this protect your browser from being compromised by limiting what websites can get up to but it can also filter HTTPS traffic, preventing (or at least alerting you to) tracking by some sites (see the Dangers of HTTPS (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=31087) thread for more details).

Interesting so you trade off the older ability to block global hooks/installing drivers etc versus unlimited termination protection.

Yes prevx pro works fine with AV.

SSM monitors processes, memory injection etc .A built in plugin monitors registry keys too, but it does not monitor changes to other file areas.

In addition to the other suggestions you should also ensure that you use a strict backup procedure, either to an external HD for a complete system backup or at the very least burn all your important files data and settings including passwords to CD.

Acronis have their forums here and offer very good backup software that will work from within windows.

RegDefend would also make another strong layer of defence - Forum here at Wilders see GhostSecurity.

I don't know much about computers and protection for them but I do need some help on my security issues as well if anyone can help me?...I'm useing XP SP2 i have Spybot SD ADaware .(experiencing some difficulties with my spyware now. and as far as a firewall ..windows....trojan protection...NONE and I don't know where to get trojan protection or anything else. I hope to be able to find all replies :)
