Don't know if it is the same...I didn't download it.

Quote from website...

"Tired of all that Spyware and Adware crap being installed by ActiveX ?
But don't want to loose out on functionality?

We have created a system that blocks all known "bad" ActiveX controls from running inside Internet Explorer by setting the "Kill bit".

When a page tries to install a component from our list, it will fail.
When a page tries to use a component from our list that was already present on your system, it will fail too!

Other, "friendly" components are not affected.

Download and Installation
The best part of it is that we can pull this off without any programs running on your Pc, without even having to run a program to install the block list! All you need to down is download the -small- registry file below (Right-Click, choose "Save As...") and then double click it to enter it into the registry and activate the protection."

I don't know, but it looks like it does exact the same job like Spywareblaster...

I'm sure Javacool give us the right answer ;)

The site may have information on over 190, but the reg file on that website contains just below 100 items. SpywareBlaster (database update from today included) covers 171 ;).

Hi Darren,

Another difference is that SpywareBlaster can undo the changes in the registry. Removing the changes made by the blockfile might prove a bit tedious, if you would ever want to do that.

Pieter

The whole idea of the reg file gives me shivers.
Why play with the registry when alternatives are available.
This is only asking for trouble and this app certainly won't be a favourite of mine.

There's no doubt SpywareBlaster is the best. I was just concerned they exported SpywareBlasters database as a .reg file or something.

Nope - they used several other sources to compile their reg file, as far as I know. Blatant copying of SpywareBlaster's database would be rather obvious, considering it would practically double the number of items in that file. ;)

Currently, SpywareBlaster provides no reg file export capability. While there may be some sort of export feature included in the future (for corporate use), I'm not sure it support reg files.
