Some reason you feel compelled to use the title you used. One would think you had a crisis instead of a question.

6600gt is the best graphic card for the money you spend on it:)

how much money would you want to spend?
for 50$ more you can get the x800xl and it is double as fast as the 6600gt
I allready ordered this model
His X800XL at 432Mhz (standard overclocked in factory :) :) :))
so doesn't avoid warranty for 320$

Wow! $50. more....where are you shopping Infinity? What a rip off. You can get the xfx 6600 gt AGP card retail at newegg for $192. + $4.50 s+h. Total = $196.50. Even less for OEM. I wouldn't pay over $200. for any 6600 gt card. Shop around Phatkid before you buy, there are some good deals out there.

It could have something to do with where they live, tophat! The prices vary wildly from country to country, but, I am with you, I would get one from a friend in the US or CA where you might save quite a bit.
Maybe you should check it out a little longer? Your money, tho.

AGRRGRG!!! Thats it...if all you guys are buying graphics cards then I choose to forego my new PC and spend that money on - GeForce 6800 Ultra 8)
I'll do it within the next three months
Really ;D
Wish me luck buying my GeForce 6800 :)
Best Regards,

true, it all depends on where you live, even with the dollar low as it is, here in Belgium prices are high :( grrrrr
I just purchased a x800xl platinum which is comparable with the x800xt (not platinum ed.) for 420$
I sold my 6600gt for 180$ so this will cost me 270$
That is as much as I spend on a gpu, never more then 300$ not even for a processor.
the most expensive things are those damn gpu's cause everybody likes nice movies and pics, it must be an investment, if not better stick with old plain vga cards.
best wishes

those are one of the best graphic cards on the planet Firecat!!! ;D
But if you wait 4 months there will be new cards: 512mb ones and double as fast: which means: prices of ultra's and gt's will drop consequently :)

Oh I am waiting 3 months - but it'll probably be a 6800GT rather than Ultra :'(

the 6800gt can be voltmodded/flashed to an ultra without a prob Firecat :)
so you can have an ultra for the $ of a gt...that is why I purchased the x800xl Platinum edition, cause this can be flashed/modded to a x800xt platinum
so I save 200$ :D,
take care

how many pipelines? I believe it is twelve...you gotta unlock the pipelines :D but you gotta know what you do...otherwise you'll end up with a microwave oven ;)
lemme see....
Firecat

Yes its 12 pipelines...and I believe it can be done with RivaTuner.....

here is how you can unlock the pipelines from vanilla to 6800 ultra (http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=40544)
here you can find the whole discussion...

90% of the 6800 OC and LE (Vanilla) are unlockable :) so good news for you my friend...
I'll do just the same as you...unlock the thing ;D make it a super jumbo jet

question: will you be continuing with your agp or will you make the step to pci-e?
/edit: if you voltmod/unlock your pipes, you overclock it for about 20Mhz (easy, cause 80Mhz is allready achieved) then you have the best performer regarding this bench:
AGP Cards benchtest (http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20041004/vga_charts-07.html)
however: if you choose to take the pci-e step:
Then I would consider going for ATI and taking X800 (the same money as the 6800 but a lot quieter, better cooling and also modeable to the XL :)
PCI-E CARDS and benches (http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20041222/vga_charts-05.html)
cheers

:) , you can allways RMA the card and say it doesn't work on your system... or say you will give it back, pay the guy 20$ and take a more expensive one...they allways are willing when you wanna pay for a better one...except you give yours back that wasn't functioning too good at the end ;)
need to go
Take care
