Anybody heard of Adios cleaner?

I found this system cleaner at File-Archive.com
Adios Extreme Filesystem Cleaner 2.23 is what it is called. It's a sequel to Stray Cats Window cleaner.
It is compatable with all Windows systems.

It finds a lot of stuff and is supposed to be a "safe" program.It's shareware.It has a 30 day trial then it costs $10.00.

Has anyone heard of this program?

I was searching my temp and history files lately.
After I "unhid" some files so that everything was shown,I was amazed at the volume of garbage I had on my pc.

I use another program to find those garbage files and delete them.

It seems that Adios finds more and is safe.So far anyway.
I did notice after cleaning with Adios that a lot of temp. stuff was removed.

I may just purchase Adios if I don't find anything wrong with it after some more use.

Tester, let us know how or if it affects your OS during the next few days.
If it corrupts your PC, you can use Roots' box !

I have also just downloaded this program. It has found over 190mB of 'temp' files on my Win2000 box and over 18mB on my Win XP computer.

I was surprised about the Win 2000 results as this computer has only recently been formatted and so the OS has only been on there for about 10 days.

Looks a good program if IT IS SAFE to delete all these temp files. I have not deleted yet, waiting for you chaps to tell me that it is safe to do so ;D

Sorry Eyespy I could not wait ::).

Before crossing my fingers, I made disc images with Acronis, backed up essential files with WinRescue and then deleted all temp files listed. Both computers are still alive!!!.

If anything the computer running Win2000 seems to be running faster than before!!!!!!!

Adios seems a very able temp cleaner and seems well worth its $10 asking price. Previous experiences with batch cleaners have not been so good as Xen hosed a number of my programs after a 'thorough clean' :'(.

The large number of files removed with Win2000 may be some of the SP3 files?

Anyway so far so good. If this program is indeed 'safe' I will register after the trial period and run it at startup.

I got brave and actually allowed Adios to clean everything it found.

That was a few days ago.
I've had no ill-effects yet.(I'm using xp home edition o.s.)

Adios is intimidating.The claims do seem a bit far-fetched.
I found a lot of garbage with it and I think what it found was legitimate.
I didn't have all of the boxes checked.

I cleaned again today and I have some screenshots.

This is the last screen shot.
If memory serves me correctly the first run found a lot of "bak"files and memory dump type files.

I am unclear what category Adios falls into.
It may be "nagware" like the older version of Internet Sweeper.
If it is shareware,it's cheap!
I checked the website and this developer has some impressive credentials.
This may be as good a program as it appears to be.

Nice work Tester !
It kind of reminds me of a internet tracks cleaning utility with the added log and swap file cleaner.
I might give that a try !

I like the idea of a program that detects and cleans memory dump and swap file garbage too.

I wasn't looking for this type of program when I found the File-Archive site.
I never heard of Adios before and I saw somewhere that it was released recently.
I got curious. ;)

I'm going to rack up some more garbage and run it again.
I have to see if it's one of those "too good to be true" programs.

I have been running it twice a week.
The first "run" finds the most garbage.
Adios is consistently finding 2mb of garbage now.
No "quirks" or problems from cleaning with Adios.

I looked a little closer at SuperCleaner and checked all of the boxes for garbage detection.It finds a lot,even more than Adios.
The "catch" is that some of the "garbage" found by SC is Windows stuff that is unfamiliar to me.Cleaning that stuff is Risky IMO.

I decided that whether Adios is shareware or nagware,I'm keeping it and relying on it for garbage file removal.
I'm curious about the plugins that are available to registered Adios users. ;)

My first run with Adios! produced 587MB of removable files. 99% of the files are from upgrading to Windows XP SP1 (when you save your current files in case you want to back out of the service pack) as well as saved files for any Windows Security update, etc.

It did find Temporary Internet Cache folders/files that TE doesn't delete. As the developer states on his web site...he uses low level (i.e. going to the directories) rather than using Windows API calls. From my messing around with writing an 'IE cleaner' in VC++, the Windows API call only returns the files indexed in the index.dat (files, cookies, etc).

Definitely looks good for $10...wish he had a zip backup/delete option...just in case...

I gave it a whirl, my pc is still running this morning :).
For some reason I could not get the download from the site , so I emailed martin , and received a reply within 12 hrs with a link for download, so that was very good and fast , so his support is good .

Got it, installed it ran it wide open, deleted everything it found - no adverse results as yet (no conflicts with anything else on my system, either, that i can tell yet). Pete

I tried it. Ran it and deleted all the findings (default setting) and voila'....my OS failed to reboot !! >:(

I had to do a sys. repair in Safe Mode. GRRRRR.

It did find a lot of redundant files though....at least according to ADIOS !! ;D

That would be nasty wouldn't it !!

Actually, my OS would boot up OK, but as soon as it was done I would get the prompt "this program has performed an illegal operation, yada yada yada....."
I would restart and get the same thing every time !
All is OK now ! ;D
