windows sp2 firewall

good morning all i wanted to ask with windows firewall do i tick dont allow execptions?? I dont use 3rd party firewalls due to its just to confusing and the pop ups anoy me.and well i dont really know which process to allow and not allow!knowing my luck it would b important..so do i tick no execptions??? or if there is a small firewall out there like pc cillians..set and leave i would use it, any reccomendations? regards MD
