2005-03-16 AVG Personal Security Edition Beta - build 310

The AVG Personal Security Edition offers the standard AVG Professional functionality plus a brand new personal firewall. The firewall was designed with focus on easy of use and configuration. Even an unexperienced user should be able to configure the firewall to provide reliable protection against external threats. At the same time, the firewall should not present an obstacle in everyday computer usage, forcing the end user to answer questions that he or she can't understand and answer properly. Yet even advanced user will find most of the "bells and whistles" that they know from other firewall products.

This is a first beta version that is intended primarily for preview. We DO NOT recommend to install this version on a mission critical or production machines! Moreover, this version is intended for Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems ONLY! Future versions will support Windows 98 and Windows Me, too - but this version DOES NOT. Before installing this beta version, please, read the installation instructions! We also strongly recommend that you download and go through the manual.

You can download both the installation package and installation instructions from the Downloads section. The appropriate license number is included in the installation package.

Good move AVG. :)

I think Grisoft is now strongly aim to SoHo/small business/corporate markets, they have low pricing and the products are quite good.

Don't have any pictures, but tested it..........everything allright, till I couldn't connect to the internet. Firewall was active!!!!!! De-activated firewall and all was well. Trying to figure out what was happening.....added some non-starting applications, still nothing!!!!
During installation, you are being warned about the XP firewall and should not be active! This firewall was not active before installation and guess what........when checking this: the XP firewall was active......and I just wonder how. I think Grisoft activated this bugger.
It's own definitions update was blocked this way!!!!!!
I'm not sure, but I removed the whole package very quickly and that was the end for me!
Virus part is the same as the regular program with the same program settings.
Maybe someone has a different experience?

Good luck ;)

It almost still the same.

I totally didn't like it, I think AVG Pro/AVG Personal Security interface is too cumbersome than it should be. I removed it very quickly too, this pic taken from its document.

I knew it wasn't exactly going to be top-grade....

Thanks for posting the pic TAP. My test PC here is a 98.

Way to many modules for my liking. If it is like the current pro version, you should be able to set it to have a list, instead of the module blocks.

Mike,
Is this a home grown Firewall? It sounds like it is. I will keep an eye on this with interest. :)

Took a look at my in laws.

To get rid of modules, go to view and click reduced mode. This will give you a nice clean look.
