View Full Version : can't uninstall LnS Lite

Look 'n' Stop Lite 1.0.0.4 has been messed up. It is installed on an older Win98 PC and functioned well for a long while. Then spyware and viruses were removed from the system. Now LnS will not run, and the uninstaller is missing, so it cannot be removed in the orthodox manner. I tried re-installing it over top of the existing setup, but that made no apparent difference---it still neither runs nor uninstalls.
Are there prepared instructions for uninstalling manually?

LnS is running again, after further work. Still no uninstaller, though.

Look 'n' Stop is its own uninstaller.
The command line is looknstop -uninst
But normally the Start Menu should contain an icon for uninstall and in the control panel when double-cicking on add:remove programs, Look 'n' Stop should appear in the list of installed applications.
Regards,
Frederic.

Normally, perhaps. But in this case neither Add/Remove nor Start-Uninstall is producing any noticeable effect. We will try the command line. Thanks for the response!

How did you note Look 'n' Stop is still there ?
File that should be removed after the uninstall (Win95/98/ ME information only):
c:\windows\system\fwapi.dll
c:\windows\system\lnsfw1.vxd
c:\windows\system\lnsfw.vxd
All content in c:\program files\soft4ever\looknstop, except files you placed by yourself inside this folder.
About the registry keys:
there is an entry in:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\]
for automatic start
and for drivers:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\LNSFW]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\LNSFW1]
And finally the icons/shortcut in the Start Menu.
I think that's it.

Dozens of ways: the icon in the systray, the fact that it's one of the running tasks, the files in the installation folder, etc. Thanks for the information.
