I am using Avast Pro 4.6. When I downloaded mails using Foxmail client from my hotmail and yahoo accounts, the email scanner didnt detect 4 viruses! Foxmail uses a hotmail proxy.

When I ran an on-demand scan, avast detected those 4 viruses and cleaned them.

Do I need to reconfigure my software so that Avast detects such viruses in real-time?
Does Avast support Foxmail's hotmail & yahoo proxy?

Regards,
Abhishek

It's better to put this answers in the avast! forum (http://forum.avast.com)...

Then try the search option and you will find some info about this:

Ex:
Avast vs foxmail/hotmail (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=10369.0)

The Avast mail scanner will work with regular mail ports 25 and 110, Hotmail proxy is not actually a POP, therefore the mail plug in cant support it, you can enable scan on close for standard shield option as well as the web shield.

And when on standard ports, it even neatly configures to integrate with an anti spam filter like K9. Very nicely done :)
