I have problems with Outlook 2002 SP2 and all other patches, updates, after x-minutes of no-use Outlook hangs/freezes/don't respond anymore, I have to close it and start again. :(

I use Outlook together with Word.

Have tried both the repair options of Outlook and Word, doesn't fix the problem.

Have changed to another virusscanner, problem still excists.

No solution on the Microsoft-site for the problem, have searched on internet, noticed that exact the same problem excists for a lot of people but nobody knows the solution! ???

Anybody on the forum who knows the right solution to fix the problem??

Hi Smokey,

Have you checked your system logs to see if there are any errors reported there for the times the freezes occur?

Regards,

Pieter

Hi Smokey,

Any ideas as to how and when it started?
Probable cause, motive and opportunity. ;)

Pieter

Hi Peter,

After I reboot my machine I start Outlook manually and let it automaticly checks every 15 min. for mail.

Nothing wrong with or? :P

At this moment I feel me like Stevie Wonder 8)

Searching in the dark and don't seeing the light! :'(

Hi Smokey,

Sorry to be unclear. What I meant to ask was: did it ever work properly and if so: when did that change?
After installing some software, getting M$ updates?
If this happened recently maybe System Restore is an option?

Pieter

Hi Peter,

Last year every worked just fine, the problems occurs just since about 2 months.

Since that time I have installed a lot of stuff, included M$ updates, I can't trace anymore when the problem exactly occurs so a system restore is not possible solution.

I reinstalled now Outlook and Word, but the problems are the same! ::)

Hi Smokey,

I didn't give up on you. :)
Just had some urgent matters to attend to. Sorry about that.
Here's one that might apply to you:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q329349
Other than that I found some conflicts with NAV, ZA, Winfax and a workaround that came down to checkingfor mail manually.

Hope this helps,

Pieter

Hi Smokey,

You may want to make sure that the journaling feature isn't on. That can really slow down things considerably and has caused me problems in the past.
