Hey there...

Out of curiosity, and after reading all of Firefighter's posts (uh-oh!), I downloaded Extendia AVK Pro.. Very interesting product.. Similar to NAV, a little faster, but a slow scanner.. 2 Scanning engines! That's the nice part!

A couple of questions please...if anyone knows the answers, I'd appreciate the help..

1.. If you go to www.antiviruslab.com that is the encyclopedia website for AVK, but it's in German! I'm American! Ja! Is there an English version available that I can see..

2. Has anyone have any experience with Boomerang Software?

3. I see it does well in U of H tests, and also it passed Virus Bulletin..

4. Does anyone else own this (English speaking)

5. Comments?

One thing that it does, that I'm not crazy about, is that if it finds a virus in a zip folder, it deletes the WHOLE folder! I mixed up regular word documents in the eicar zip2 and regular folder, and AVK deleted the whole folser, and the good files, when I tried not to...

You can always use http://www.viruslist.com/eng/index.html from Kaspersky(since AVK uses KAVs engines) or http://www.rav.ro/pages/virus.php from GeCAD (since AVK uses RAVs engine) or use http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en.

And why do you think it’s similar to NAV?

Well, not THAT similar, I guess..
The scanning speed is slower than NOD32 (I'm spoiled rotten...) and the way it disinfects, which I actually like, is NAV like in a few ways.. Kinda complicated to explain here..
Technodrome, have you used this proggie? I emailed tech support but have yet to hear... How can I make sure only the virus is disinfected or deleted in a zip folder with extendia, not the whole folder!

If you know how, I'd seriously think about it for another computer I own.

Thanks

I did try it 6 months ago. I can't recall this option right now, but it shouldn't be hard to configure. You just have to play with it. ;)
