Hi All,

I've just installed XP - I'm fairly ok with it having come up through the ranks from '95. However just a small irritant, that the answer to may be staring me in the face. At the Welcome screen (where all the different users are shown) my username/icon shows that I have 8 unread emails - even though I've read them all!

I've had a look around the various Help & Support stuff but can't seem to find any reference to this 'problem'. It's no biggie really, just a bit annoying. Can anyone shed any light please?

A really excellent site and, good to see postings from all the world over.

Regards to all, Pete.

You use MSN MESSENGER and Hotmail accounts, right ?
More than one addy ?
Clicking on that line should tell you how many unread emails are for each

I've had the same problem myself....even though I had no unread mail. Tweak UI (M$ Powertoy) fixes it. I'll see if I can find the link....

If you are using Outlook Express or MS Outlook for your email checks, I recommend that you run these programs and see whether you have any 'unread' mail or mail that has subject line in bold letters. If yes, click them and keep looking at it till the boldness disappears. Do the same for the other messages.

P.S. Have a nice day! ;)
