LnS and ad blocker

I need some input from you guys....

As a long term user of AtGuard I finally switched to LnS and I must say that I am very satisfied with the 2.04 version.

The only thing I am missing from my AtGuard is the ad blocking feature. I tried to run both FWs on my win2k machine, but AtGuard does not like the LnS driver

So my question would be: What programs do you use for ad blocking.

I just surfed to the Outpost webpage since I know that this FW includes ad blocking. They are clever, because they offer a special "migration" prize for users running/purchasing a different firewall like LnS. The prize is very competitive, but I do not want to learn another FW and most important I do trust LnS very much!!

So how can I get a good ad blocker for less then 20$ and still use Lns ?????

A good start would be check out ie-spyad at http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm (if you are using internet explorer). It will restrict a lot of the sites that are in your AtGuard list.

I also highly recommend Proxomitron ( http://www.proxomitron.org/ ). It has a steep leaning curve but IMHO is well worth it. Proxomitron also has excellent support forums at http://asp.flaaten.dk/proxo/default.asp and http://www.computercops.biz/modules.php?name=Forums.

I use JD5000 filter set with Proxomitron and love it. He also has a support forum at http://www.computercops.biz/modules.php?name=Forums and his homepage is http://home.satx.rr.com/jd5000/.

1.) Does it work in combination with LnS ?

I strongly recommend Ad Muncher, which is $15 shareware, and worth every cent of that. What I don't recommend is an alternative that requires you to spend more time configuring it than actually surfing the web.

Ad Muncher works with Windows 95/98/NT4/2000/ME/XP, and any browser you can throw at it. In fact, it works with any application you can throw at it. This is because it doesn't operate as a typical local proxy, as many other ad blockers do. It is pretty much in a class of its own.

Version 4.41 is soon to be released, and it is a big improvement over the current release version. I recommend trying an Ad Muncher 4.41 beta. If you have questions or problems, Ad Muncher support is very responsive.
