You can read a superb series of professional-grade reviews of email clients at THIS site (http://email.about.com/od/windowsemailclients/).

Unedited results from my own recent series of trials...
-{ Quote: "_/AK Mail good, uses Int Explorer for html :(
_/Calypso- the one I use & love. Free & wonderful.
_/Courier won't work with DrWeb. Otherwise, it's a great NON-free replacement for Calypso
_/Eureka- NO html ability
_/ExpressPlus - $35!
_/EZMail- Homepage is a dead-end.
_/FastTrack - Free version used to be "Netmail" - pretty good. html danger I *think*. To change a/c click option then a/c name, then save. Phew! Cannot view headers of rec'd messages. :(
_/FoxMail uses IntExp to render html
_/Instinct Mailer $25. Does html but no info as to if IE used. IL website dead end.
_/JBMail $35. Html in plain text
_/Lydia $20. Won't work with DrWeb. Only 15 accounts- why? Website has broken links. Has own html engine.
_/Marlin- Complex & VERY safe. A bit ungainly to use.
_/MailCheck- html danger
_/MailCommander $50!
_/MailCOPA- $40! Emphasis on spam control. No info re how it handles html
_/MailPeek- VERY primitive. Needs manual entries to .ini file
_/MailWarrior- no pop b4 send. Each account has own folders. html is safe but poorly rendered. No longer maintained but superb & waay ahead of its time.
_/Mr.2 /ICE- $40!
_/Mulberry $36! This is THE state of the art. It defines what an email client should be if it did every conceivable thing you can think of. A rather steep learning curve.
_/Munite $30; deadend website links
_/Netmail is another name for FastTrack (see above)
_/Pegasus - Grreat. Jumbled GUI. Rather steep learning curve. Popb4send is iffy
_/Phoenix- mishandles replies to html messages. Each account has own folders. Open source.
_/Pimmy - No popb4send. no leave on server. no html. weird gui
_/PMMail 2000 $40!
_/PocoMail- $40!
_/POPCORN. Free version is now crippleware. The last full-featured free version is very good if you just want a no-frills, small, FAST email client. (I can show you where to get it).
_/Scribe- Free version handles only 1 account. Otherwise it's same as paid version. $20 Scribe includes a secure internal HTML rendering engine. Spellcheck is Aspell. Works fine but a pain to install. No pop b4 send setting :(
_/TabMail - Can only have ONE account, but with multiple mailboxes.Poorly handles multiple accounts. No Pop before send.
_/Vivian lacks spelling checker. Has no preview panel. VERY clumsy to use!
_/yMail- winsock error. No pop before send
_/YAMC - it's okay." }-
