How about workin' out everyday 2 hours at least, eating only bread with a small amount of jam if you prefer and not taking the weekly pizzas? Y'see I hardly eat, but I'm still slightly fat! Maybe its a genetic problem?
Sure hope you don't have the same result :)
Good luck and Best wishes on your diet plan.

:D The wildman don't call it no diet, it's a modified eating plan. Simple, cut back on the portions, hit the tread mill for half an hour each working day.
As some of you know, the wildman is sight impaired. If I do not place my head in just the correct position, I am subject to having double and triple vision. Everything that can be done has been done, so I accommodate this condition. It was a royal pain to find a safe place and way of getting in any walking, but the tread mill(s) at our condo's club house has done the trick. Also the wildman was smart enough to have cleared all this with his doctor before he started. If this don't produce results, the doctor is going to look very funny with a tread mill sticking out of a orifice on his body. Lost eight pounds last month however. Will see again in April when I return for my next doctor's appointment.
Thank you all.
Thanks

You can deviate slightly from it I guess. Do not go beyond 2500 calories/day. Cut the candy out, no cakes please and no creamy food, that's what I'd recommend.
Again, good luck :)

Yeah Rita!! what's the prob!! Just exercise two hours a day and eat bread and a little jam!! No Problemo!!
Except that your body will think you are starving it and hang on to that excess with your very last breath!!
Twenty minutes every other day is usually enough if you are not eating hand over fist!! :o
I'll PM you some stuff tomorrow, if ya want!
Something to think about: No matter how physical your job is, your body gets used to that exercise really fast, so you STILL (BAH HumBug!) need to exercise some, every other day- going faster one day - doing different exercises keeps your body 'guessing' and it will start to work with you not against you.
Now that I have said all that, maybe I should go for a walk myself -
NAAAW!
Good for you Wildman, may you be our inspiration!! PLEASE!! :'(

One key is like BBoss said, 'Keep busy', another is
FIBER!!! A slice of bread with 1g of fiber is ludicrous! That is nothing!
VEGGIES- lots of fiber
FRUIT -some, it not always the best thing for losing weight, too much sugar, but it is better than eating tons of sugar..
You have to know your body, some people can eat carbs all day long, I can't! Noodles, bread, all that stuff .
Up your protein, people usually don't get enough of it and your body starts to crave carbs just to 'run'.
Make a smoothie with strawberries (or some kind of berry), yogurt, protein (soy or whey - whey not if you are lactose intolerant), ice and blend! Like a shake!

I think I read somewhere that smoking does not actually make you medically slimer. The logic is that if you have a cigarette in your mouth, you don't have food in your mouth.

:) People do not like to diet, it is not something one relishes, therefore as I said I do not diet. Also when we think we are denied something we have a tendency to rebel, therefore I do not deny myself anything. The key thus far has been to cut back on the size of what I eat, and exercise. The most important thing to remember is that we must use moderation, and some people can go the other way also, that as we know is not healthy either.
Also it is a necessity that one check with their medical provider before attempting anything in this area. Advice is good and well intentioned, but quiet frankly I would not take any advice my doctor did not o.k.
Thanks

My parents diet but its not really that simple. In my opinion, my mom does not need to loose any more weight where as my dad does. My mum sometimes diets so that my dad will not be distracted by other foods but even when he is on a diet, he will sneak in the odd unhealthy food. I think the best tool to loosing weight is will power.

Your right Wildman, exercise I think is important.I am active most of the time although I have no exercise program,so to speak.I need to start walking again, did it for years about 3 miles every day and loved it,but I've sorta fell by the wayside the past year.Well,I succeeded the first day ;D only 2000 calories-maybe it'll get easier.I'm also trying to eat better within those calories.I only had one donut yesterday-no more sweets but that took 300 of my precious calories! If I had alot of weight to lose I'd see a dr.but since it's so little and I'm trying to eat better also I probaly wont, but your right about that also--congrats on your success wildman!!

;D The wildman is starting to kind of like the tread mill thing. Have encountered a variety of individuals, from the young (teen agers) to the senior citizen crowd (oldest thus far has been 93). Some times the place is somewhat crowded, and others almost deserted. Have also noticed there are a few regulars. I must admit however, that it takes time to get back into the exercise routine, when one has been away from it. The old guy wanted the wildman to lift weights, wish I could, but the vision thing makes it far to dangerous to attempt, looking down is one of them no no positions. For those who can, it may be a fun thing to exercise together, as the old guy told me the important thing is to just do it.
Thanks

Hi Wildman, ;)
I'll ring in with some general advice that may help.
Don't use salt. Avoid any pre-packaged foods as they contain usually tons of salt (you'd be surprised by how much water weight the body can hold); it also wise to avoid these pre-packaged goods as they usually have a pretty high Fat-Content. Canned Soup is really high in salt, if you like soup, make your broth from scratch, it's really quite easy -or- if you want to use a store bought "broth" buy the sodium reduced product, which is 25% less, but still really high, so dilute it with water at least 3:1.
Avoid Sugar. Look for safer alternatives like "Splenda" which is a non-nutritive sweeter (no calories), which tastes just like sugar, I swear by it. Even some Pop manufactures are switching to it for their "diet" versions, Pepsi's Diet Crush as an example.
Low Fat Naturally. ;) ... But watch out for low fat products, as they usually replace the Flavour that Fat provides, by using a ton more Sugar. Always read the label. If you use oil at all for cooking, switch to Olive Oil, which is the healthiest of the bunch. 1 gram of Fat = 9 calories, always do the math on pre-packaged foods to figure out the % of Calories from Fat.
Lower Carb Carbs are complex sugars, they are the storage vehicle for plants, the same as the Human Body converts excess Sugar to Fat. Carbs are broken down my the body to be digested, the main component is Sugar.
Eat Often Eat smaller portions, and eat regularly thru the day. Four hour intervals are best. This will help regulate your insulin levels, as eating smaller portions and avoiding added sugars will keep your glycaemic Index down, that way your body won't convert excesses sugars to fat, when you peak your blood sugar levels your body then produces insulin to lower it, which as mentioned above will be converted and stored as fat. The four hour intervals are enough time for those blood sugar levels to decrease naturally, before your next meal.
Alway Read the Label Like I said above, Low - this or that may have other consequences. ie. Low Fat but a High Sugar Content. There are other tricks to labels too, always check the serving size, to the products size, when reading the product break down. Another may list the break down standalone, where as the product is destined to be combined with something else, which will alter the output greatly. (Sorry, I couldn't really word this better, I hope it's understandable)
I could go on and on, but that's a pretty good primer.
Good Luck my Friend. :)
Steve

Hey Wildguy, As you are limited to one beer a day (quart, case, or keg) a couple of chocolate bars w/some salty potato chips would be necessary to be sure that you get all of the food groups. You will get plenty of exercise running to the bathroom. I am 7'8" and weigh 72lbs. Hope you find this little tip helpful.

If it keeps raining here much more, I will be using a row boat to go get my beer from the store. We are setting records for the amount of rain during the season.

:) Nope not yet, but any more rain and I may have to put it up on coffee cans. The golf course in back of us now has a raging river flowing down the middle of it however (talk about your water trap). Interesting tidbits from my part of the world.
The all-time United States record for rainfall in a 24-hour period was set in Texas in 1979. This broke the record set in 1921 in the flood described on the previous page. The current record holder is Alvin, Texas. Alvin doesn't have any dramatic topography to trigger precipitation. It just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The event was Tropical Storm Claudette. Not the Claudette that made landfall in July 2003, but the one that made landfall in July 1979. The storm moved slowly inland over southeast Texas, causing about $750M in property and crop damage. The highest rainfall total at an official site was a remarkable 40" in 24 hours, but a nearby unofficial site, confirmed by the National Weather Service, recorded 43" in 24 hours.
That's an impressive amount of rain no matter how you look at it. Normally you would have to put a garbage can under the storm gutter of a house to have any hope of filling it up during a rainstorm. But with Claudette the trash can could have been left out in the open and it still would have filled up.

No big problems in our immediate area, however areas around us have not been as lucky. The forecast is rather dismal as this is forecast into the coming week.
