First of all sorry, I speak very badly about English:(


I would like having your opinion under Look not stop.

Which is the best between this firewalls: Look not stop, Outpost, Firewall Sygate Pro, Zone Alarms Pro?

Because I hesitate at present very seriously on the question.
Of one somewhere else, I hear{*understand*} only the good on Zone Alarm Pro, nevertheless I remain perplexed: the more a product is recognized, and the more its faults can be used mindlessly, do not you think?
Outpost also seem to me a check firewall, they have a very active forum with a dynamic team and in the listening: it is very useful when persons discover new means of hacks.

So, I would like having your opinions on the subject, by knowing that I stay almost connects 24/24, and in particular on networks IRC, what makes me really vulnerable, because there is a great deal of hackers more or less balèzes which{*who*} come on irc to make the hand on leeks (I made the bad experience{*experiment*} of it once in my life, result: the fellow had not got{*touched*} anything my pc but he left me his beautiful signature filled{*performed*} with unhealthy insults).

So what counts most for me it is that it recognizes a big number of methods of hacks so that it can counter them, and especially that it has an optimal efficiency (to dissuade this hostile lamerz).

Finally, I would have a last question concerning Look not stop, this one manages to block{*surround*} the hacks of types: Tooleaky, and FireHole?

Unfortunately there is no correct answer to the often asked "Which is the best firewall?" What may be best for me, could be the worst for you.

Any of the ones you have mentioned will afford you good protection. It is a matter of finding the one that meets your needs and abilities and that you are comfortable with and uderstand. This is important as a misconfigured firewall will leave you vulnerable.

If you are comfortable with and understand rule sets, you could look at Look 'n' Stop and Outpost. If you prefer to work more at the application layer, then Sygate and Zone Alarm may be better options and they still allow for more advanced configuration/rules for those that want to take advantage of those features.

It is best to take advantage of the trial versions offered (only trial one at a time) and find the one that best suits you, your needs and abilities.

But as regards the ONLY protection, and only protection, as well as methods of hacks which{*who*} are blocked{*surrounded*} (some firewalls recognize types of hacks, and the others not; in fact I look for the one that will protect me best for the new methods of hacks and the former{*old*})

I would like to have the opinions of persons which tested the firewalls which I named higher, if possible
I know that the sites which make simple test TCP or ICMP of firewalls is only marketing arguments, but it{*he*} has to have certainly there readers on this forum who are administrators of network and who could advise me?

All firewalls you mentioned before are good, comparable, products. And I agree with CrazyM that you have to see for yourself which product suits you.

It is a matter of you personal preference which product you need. So indeed do try them out for yourself.
Try some online scanning sites (they do not only offer simple tcp tests, pcflank for instance gets you some advanced tests).

You should take a note of the interface; Do you like pop-up warnings, do you need advanced logging and reporting? Do you need firewall only or do you need added functionality?

And if in doubt: get an other firewall (linux, hardware) in front of your windows box.

Hi,

All the rules based FW you mentionned + KPF are good products WHEN and ONLY the settings are good.
The logs may be more or less at your convenience.
You must also consider that most "attacks" and leaks come from inside you LAN or from your own machine.
Consider using in conjunction a Reg Monitor, like SSM, Abtrusion Protector or other preventing *.dll injection, etc...
