How long is TI disk inactivity threshold time before taking snapshot and
how long is timeout for that threshold ? Probably after that timeout
TI starts making snapshot anyway, but then some disk write operation may
interrupted and files stay in bad consistency. How about that ?

Hello ivar,
Acronis exclusive technology allows you to perform ordinary read/write operations while the image is being created. No information can be lost and no data flow can be interrupted. That is why you cannot get bad files in any way.
Thank you.

Hello Ivar,
This <Acronis article> (http://www.acronis.com/company/inpress/2003/01-ctr-disk-imaging.html) provides a good insight into what TI does during "live" imaging.

I dont want to discuss about ordinary backup technique, I was just ask
about disk inactivity wait time. Are You know at all what is "disk inactivity
threshold"? Acronis just come to enterprise market but seems that its support
dont know about how works most enterprise backup systems. It just naive
to call ordinary backup tehniques as "Acronis exclusive" - it point to your
incompetency and no more.
Regardless that "Open File Backup" technique (this technique is all the same in all systema, also in sector-based systems) allows to write into files while
backup, this dont mean that file writes can be interrupted any time and
after that expect that this file contain all needed data and relationships
between files are consistent. No any serious enterprise backup system
exist without disk inactivity threshold manual settings, and no any serious
enterprise dont buy your software if you cant say nothing about this disk inactivity-idle time settings. Simply just look into example Veritas or Dantz
manuals about how things go round.
Or this forum is only for home-amateurs ?

Hello Ivar,
We recommend you to read the below article, as it describes how Acronis True Image works under Windows running.
http://www.acronis.com/company/inpress/2003/01-ctr-disk-imaging.html
As for the disk threshold, it takes less than a second to create a disk bitmap. While this is created all the data that you write to disk at that time is stored in buffer and can't be lost. All the applications do not find any difficulties writing to disk because the disk is emulated by Acronis software. I can't tell you further details because it is private Acronis technology.
Thank you.

This is completely other story. Disk inactivity-idle time must be by default
5 seconds or more. Before that time snapshots disk dump isnt allowed to begin.Just before that time OpenFileBackup or OpenSectorBackup (as yours)
dont start at all - to protect consistency and relationships as possible.
But sometimes, in some configurations, even 5 seconds is too mutch and there isnt another alternative than risk and set it to 0 seconds.
Backup administrator must itselt experiment with this time and set it to
best possible value. Other parameter must be timeout that aborts backups
at all if this idle period cant pass.
Files in disk arent just unpersonal objects that can put into 1:1 point-in-time image at any time. Its just as example you talk somethging and someone interrupt you - the whole point was lost.
Yes, you can write files also while backup process does its work, but that
snapshot in image file stay half.

Hello Ivar,
The data flow cannpt be interrupted just because there is nothing to interrupt it. The ordinary data is stored not directly to disk but to special buffer while the disk snapshot is being created. So new changes are not included into the image but no data is lost as well.
Thank you.

Harsh words indeed. Can we assume you are some sort of "expert" at writing enterprise backup software?
I don't know what you're motives are but most of your previous 26 posts have been less about seeking/giving assistance and all about acquiring technical information from Acronis or criticising TI's methodology.
