View Full Version : Evidence eliminator's lock out key

Okay - so I downloaded evidence eliminator. I'm a mug I know but there you are. There was a hot review of it and at half price, and I now know the reviewer was almost certainly an affiliate. At least I never used it thanks to info gleaned from this forum. That's one saving grace.
They are willing to give a refund but I have to download a program to obtain a lock out key.
Does anyone know anything about this? Is it safe?

I too was an innocent and took on EE.
(Then I found Wilder's ;D )
Coincidentally, I had to do a reformat and reinstalled all my bits.
I took that opportunity to wipe the EE.
I then applied for the refund and had a running battle with Robin Hood about their lockout key, despite me offering them their app back they demanded I run the lock out exe. I did so on an external disc; well away from my main disc.
This generated some random number. I supplied this number back to RH and they did send the refund.
Beware and be careful. I have heard stories about various hijacks/malware left behind after "uninstalling" EE. It (EE) is incredibly difficult to remove.
Hopefully you have used some installation monitor and can delete all the registry changes that EE makes.
These links may help http://www.radsoft.net/resources/software/reviews/ee/
Check all the links in the boxes and especially the InCtrl reports
I hope this helps.

It is still the best on the marked.
Yours Sincerely

Wow, evidence eliminator is really a piece of rubbish. I'm gonna block the site that hosts evidence eliminator now.
Lucky I don't use their software at all.

I have used EE on 98, ME, XP, and 2000 and have neaver had a problem. I agree about there advertising tactics. I have it configured to NOT start up at system start. I use it on demand and then shut it down. Scans with Spybot, AdAware and Giant show no malware and TDS Bo Clean Ewido NOD32 and a variety of Antivirus Aps show nothing.

I kinda like Evidence Eliminator, but I dont believe it does its job like it should.. they have bad marketing too. I have been using Radsoft's XPT and am pretty happy with it.
If you search Radsoft's page you can find a removal utility for Evidence-Eliminator. If you have to somehow install the lockout key you should first install the trial of Tiny Personal Firewall and use the Track 'n' Reverse part of it's Windows Security to remove it afterwards.

-{ Quote: "I once ended up on an adult site by accident" }-Happens to me all the time thanks to these dodgy keyboards. ;D I try typing www.wilderssecurity.com and my fingers slip and end up with www.wildinswimsuits.com. Must be the stress of all that posting... ;)
Do make sure you clean your keyboard up afterwards though - typos due to sticky fingers can be even more embarassing than those from slippery ones. :D
