trying to help inlaws....

they have highspeed cable but seem slower then my HS dialup.....

bitdefender online found no virus', and spybot finds 133 problems but freezes up when deleteing????? went in safe mode only found 7, deletes 5...
i uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it finds 50 this time but still freezes??

i think she has win XP SP1, tried to install SP 2, dont think i did though....could this be the problem.. i went to start menu, my computer right click, properties and it say SP1...........what is the direct link to SP2

really curious as to why spybot is failing??

any other suggestion appreciated!!!!

I have moved your thread from the General Topics forum over into the Privacy Software forum since your question is more related to why Spybot S&D is crashing.

Can you tell me what version of Spybot you have and also what items it is not deleting and crashes on.

Have you tried any other anti-spyware programs, and if yes, do they run without crashing?

In my opinion, I would hold off on upgrading to SP2 if you think the computer is infected. Better to have it clean and running smoothly before taking on such an upgrade.

snapdraggons right. wait till you get her cleaned up first. to many horror stories of seperate sp2 installs gone wrong. have to do so much stuff just to get the thing ready to do a sp2 seperate install.

i blieve adaware froze too.

Spybot edition 2.3?1.3.......newest one with 23031 bad files..
