Run SpywareBlaster every time?

I have read that SpywareBlaster doesn't have to be running in order to provide protection, but do I have to run it once every time I turn my computer on in order to "initialize" it or something?

SpywareBlaster is not a running process. Just enable all protection and check for updates every week or so. That's it! Simple but very effective.
