Background: Linksys BEFSR41 with two very similar homebuilt boxes attached. Both are Intel P4's on Intel boards. One is a 2.8ghz and the other is 2.66. Both are running XP Home.
1) I used an application called nLite http://nuhi.msfn.org/index.html to custom load XP on both.
2) I use an application called Process Explorer http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml to monitor CPU usage and active processes.
3) I found that on the 2.66 box, LnS was using 17-23% CPU at idle, at all times. On the 2.8 box, LnS was using a constant 2% at idle.
4) I tried to uninstall / reinstall LnS on the 2.66 box and got the dreadful "Unable to load the lnsfw driver error 0" fault.
5) Following another thread on this forum, I found a link provided by Blackcat to PhantOm's Pantastic Uninstaller http://www.fluxgfx.com/ssc/showthread.php?t=122 .
6) Used Pantastic Uninstaller with no problems whatsoever on both machines; reinstalled LnS and now ... 0% CPU usage at idle on both machines. YEAH!
I just wanted to say you guys ROCK!!! When I initially bought LnS a year or so ago, I had problems configuring LnS to work with my router. This forum helped then too. Thanks! :D
