Hi,

I have just installed w2k with a unique ntfs partition, and am still learning hard :-[

Do you mean that ntfs is absolutely secure ? Do we still need a firewall ?

Thanks and regards,

Yinda

Hi Yinda,

All I meant to say with that is, it's easier to secure your folders when working with NTFS as opposed to FAT32. Read all about it: http://www.windowsitlibrary.com/Content/592/toc.html

I would not discard my firewall though, but I don't want to get caught in the expert discussion on that subject: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=5098

Pieter

The file system lets you configure it very securely, but it's not foolproof. Access the hard drive from within Linux and you can see everything on it perfectly fine.

Hi Mike,

That could even be achieved with boot-disks. Giving someone physical access would complicate matters enormously ;)
In that case encryption (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/security/encryptdata.asp) would offer some extra protection.
