If (as I did) you bought Giant recently & are still in the refund period, the question arises: should you get your money back or let it ride? If the MS beta is going to be free anyway, there is a good case for opting to get your money back. I'm tempted to do that - does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I would get a refund. Then later purchase another after all this aquisition and software shuffling blows over.

I would ask for a refund too and make do with Adaware and spybot until MS one comes out.

EXACTLY. This happens all of the time. Uncertain employees, worried, nervous, and not doing their jobs. GET THE REFUND!

It's nice to have softballs thrown my way now and then. :P Sort of like the first question on "Do you want to be a Millionaire". I wish all Life's questions were as simple as this one. ;)

I sent the email off to MS/Giant asking if there was any advantage in not getting a refund, and, if there is no advantage, requesting a refund.

I imagine there are a few people in my postition: really MS ought to give some clear indication quickly as to where they are going with this, if they don't want a flood of refund requests.

Thanks for your thoughts on this everyone!

MS is going here:

They made their announcement to get the press off their backs who are reporting left and right that Windows' users have computers full of spyware that can steal all kinds of private information - including financial information.

If MS were serious, they would close off all of the peep holes that they put into Windows. But if they did that, then they couldn't peep either. Something that the Redmond folks can't bring themselves to doing. Gates loves the idea of knowing what millions upon millions of people are doing at home and in the office.

But with PG 3.0 I have renewed confidence in the ability of users to at least begin to protect and control what is running in their environment. Ultimately, I realize, I need to jetison Windows entirely. I expect that this will happen with 2 - 3 years.
