If the new computer that you bought does not have SP2 yet, you'll have to download and install it.

Thanks for the cheers BigBuck. To tell you the truth, I don't know whether SP2 is installed or not. I haven't even got the new box out of the box it's packed in yet. It's too early in the morning to be that motivated. That is going to be a priority though. I'm thinking instead of running the built-in FW, putting ZA on it instead. Better to have inbound and outbound protection instead of just inbound which I have read is what XP's got. It will be different than 98. I just hope I'm not too old to adapt to such a drastic change. :o

I just hope it's got SP2 (surely it should have!).....it will save you a huuuuuge download.....about 300Mb! SP2 has a new security centre as below;
Cheers,
Buck.
PS. SP2 will 'lock down' a lot of stuff for you.....I found myself having to 'loosen' settings a bit for browsing etc.

(From BJ) Well another disapointment from the PC makers. I had to d/l and install SP2 plus a whole lot of other updates before it would even let me d/l SP2. I started the d/l process at the time of my first post, and at the time of this post I've been done for about 10 minutes. Yawn!!!!
:P

Well the good news is that after installing SP2 the updates will be 'incremental', so they'll go much faster from now on :)

My children got some good stuff. Nothing really special in the tech. line of stuff, but I got just what I told my spouse to give me. I am so pleased she took me seriously.
A very small credit card bill this year. ;D

We got connected to Comcast High Speed Internet, so now I have fast downloads. My son gave us a combo CD-RW & DVD Rom for Christmas. Now if I can just get brave enough to open up the computer and figure out how to install it.

You are probably the luckiest one here. Just think. Not having to stand in long lines to exchange ugly sweaters and ties.

I actually got what I needed and not what I wanted. I got a triple format DVD burner and case of 100 dvd+r dual layer disc's in individual slim cases. Probably wouldn't have bought them for myself but I sure needed them. DVDr is getting so inexpensive I hardly use the cdr except for small apps and just a few songs. Isn't christmas great ;D ;)

I give generously and appreciate anything I receive no matter how small. It is the thought that counts. Each gift received had its own special meaning to me. What did I get, CD's, DVD's. chocolates, a pedometer, oven mitts, - a whole lot of little useful things. 8)
