Hello,

Wondering which of the 3 Script Defenders would be the best to go with. I use Wormguard, but a friend can't buy one right now. Something easy to use not a lot of user input.

Script Defender
ScripTrap
Script Sentry

Thanks
Logan

Hi Logan5,

I use Scipt Sentry and am happy with it. *Wilder.org gives it 4.5 stars. *It is simple to set up and runs in the background. *A window will pop up if anything suspicious is going on and ask you what to do. *It IMHO does a very good job and I am stisfied with it.

Script Defender comes in a close second IMHO but my personal fav is Script Sentry.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Kent

I use ScripTrap. Super simple (no configuration, no chance of adding extensions that'll screw things up).

Make sure, if your friend tries out several before deciding, that he totally un-installs each one before moving to the next. There's a chance that your associations will become scrambled (thus defeating the entire purpose of using a script checker to start with) if you don't. HTH Pete

Just a little update.....

I had never heard of ScripTrap so I had not tried it.....

After running for a few days, I like it better than ScriptSentry although IMHO all are excellent products.

Thanks spy1 for the input.... *;D

Kent

I like AnalogX Script Defender because I can add any file extension I want:

Blacksheep - Don't I remember reading about some kind of problem with that one? Where, once you had accepted a certain script of a certain type, it accepted all scripts of that type? And you had to keep 're-activating' it, so-to-speak?

What was the upshot of all that, anyway? (Can't find the thread). Pete

Phazor - Don't know why the link won't work - it worked the day he posted it. I tried enclosing the link he gave in url tags just now, but it still keeps taking me back to the main forum page there instead of the indicated thread itself.

Since you've already posted there today, try asking them. Pete
