View Full Version : New 3.2 user

I just installed 3.2 and have shut off any other firewalls (PC Cillan INternet Security). 3.2's instructions indicate not to run Spyware Blaster minimized as it is not necessary. Just close it and full protection will still be there. However if I go to Task Manager with it MINIMIZED it appears as running under the Applications tab, and also in the Processes list, though it shows 00 activity there. When I CLOSE it per instructions it is no longer shown as running in either Task Manager Applications nor as a running process. I thought if something is running it would apear in Task Manager, or show as a running process if running in the background.
How can I be sure I'm protected under 3.2?

Hi jlboland. :)
Welcome to Wilders.
SpywareBlaster is not a running process. All u have to do is enable all protection, then check for updates weekly, and you're done. Simple, but very effective.

Hi, Wilders -- thanks fore your reply. I've been around computers for a century or more, but I don't understand how something that isn't running does anything, unless it is a fixed firewall say in a router, which I also use.
I'm also using Spybot Search and Destroy but that seems to only protect Internet Explorer. Ive been using Mozilla 1.7.3, browser and email for several weeks, and when I sweep for spyware with Spybot S&D, it shouws a whole bunch of cookies evidently allowed by Mozilla. I keep cleanin' 'em out, but they're there the next time I sweep. I have disabled my PC Cillan firewall, but got a warning that doing so would also disable it's virus protection, but checking PC Cillan it show email virus protection, but no firewall. Shesh! What's the best answer. I see Panda has a hard device that evidently screens everything in and out, but it is a network device and costs $2,000 which is a bit (read "A Bunch!) steep for a single user.
Thoughts? Advice? --either or both much appreciated.

No problem. ;)
Tassie Devils has a very good explanation here,
on how SpywareBlaster works.
