What do You know about Canada?
Absolutely NO Googling
I always find it funny to hear what others think of Canada ... It's amazing to hear such stereotypical responses.
Yes, We do live in Igloos!!! ;D

Well, let's see...
It's night for 6 months of the year everywhere in Canada, right? Everyone travels by dog (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/member.php?u=12237) sled. (Gee, you must have to work hard up there, eh dog? :o ) But, perscription drugs are real cheap! Oh, and because Santa lives right near-by, you all have to be nicer than the rest of us year-round.

I'm an immigrant up this way from the States, some 30-odd (and I do mean "odd" 8) ) years now, born and raised ("bred and buttered") in New York City. I took 4 solid years of French in high school in NY, and found that it's almost totally useless and unintelligible up here due to the weird nature of what Canajuns call French.
To give you an idea of how un-Parisian that language is here, there's a word "ènioué" which has exactly the same pronunciation and meaning as "anyway". ::)
And while my h.s. French might have prepared me for asking the way to the train station, it was utterly useless for buying groceries. I still have to turn the can or package on the supermaket shelf around so I can see the English side, or at least a picture.

Hello Atomic! :)
I am Canadian too and I know many French Canadians who speak both good English and French. I have to agree with Mike that some say things like "anyway" and speak a sloppy French but not all the people speak like that. Some do it deliberately because they find it's cool and some just don't care.
Anyway, c'est ça qui est ça! ;D

Je parle en anglais parce que je suis bilingue. Comme Uguel707 a dit dans son message, plusieurs canadien français parle aussi bin (ou presque) l'anglais que le français.
En passant j'ai rien compris de ta première phrase. :P

Hey Mes Amies, (something like that)
It may sound a bit unpatriotic of me but "O CANADA" Is the #1 Anthem in the Universe. I get stirred up more by it than my own. Especially before a Hockey game. Maybe no "Rockets Red Glare" but lots of pucks flying around.

Hmmm, I can counter that it is much better than being full of hot air. ;D ;D ;D ;D Kidding aside, just think Bj - u miss snowmobiling, alpine skiing, rock climbing, beautiful waterfalls, zillions of lakes, great fishing including ice fishing, dog sled races, not counting all the summer stuff to do - well there is just too much to mention. Oh, for a lifetime experience, u can book a vaction in an ice hotel for a different experience like sleeping on an ice bed.

My friend lives in Canada (Timmins). He sends me pictures from his region now and then and I really like the nature he lives in. :) He also likes curling as his favourite sport.
One day I sent him the pancake recipe ... he & his family really enjoyed eating those.;D
We've been exchanging quite a lot since we met each other. Personal & private matter.
Dog ... Je parle aussi le Français, mais comme presque tous les Canadiens ils ont un accent terrible. :P
