Games sites ask me for personal information - what should i do?

Hello everyone :)
A friend told me about two known and good on-line FREE games, than people can play against other players from all over the world.
Those games looks really nice, and i really want to play them.
My only one problem is than i need to sign up and register a free account.
While i register myself i need to put some important personal information like: my last name,city, address, home phone (?!) and country.

I'm talking about these games:
KAL-Online - http://www.kalonline.com/User/Agreement.asp
and
MapleStory - http://www.mapleglobal.com/members/signup.aspx
(known and pupular games)

It is safe to put those detaills? why they need so personally detaills about the players? If you want to register yourself there, will you do that and put this information?

I don't quite trust those gaming websites, I think its best that you DO NOT give them any of your personal information.
And why do those gaming websites need your phone number!? That's asking for too much already.

It's exactly what i think!
It really too much personal detaiils, it's just an Online game :P why they need to know so much?

I'm afraud than they want on sometime to convert the gaon a pay-game (and not free like now) and the list of detaills will help them to know who and and where are they players...

I read the terms of service, and i didn't find anything bad..
Could you found something?
I think than if they do anything wht the detaills they must to write about that on the agreetment license right?

That's a little too much information to give out IMHO, just for online gaming.

It could be used for other dubious things.

Hi, thanks a lot for the answer.. i talked with some of my friends and they advice me just to put inbented detaills (like phone number etc..) but i don;t want to do that.. becouse i think thaht this will bring more troubles if they discover that.. and it's not fair for them.. :P

so, it;s a little sad tha people need to put so much detaiils on a site that nobody know what they would do with them.. but.. that is her (game site) decision.

Just give them a hotmail address that you use for just such site (it will fill with spam daily).

For name and phone ect I tend to like:

Asksomuch

LA,California (any local zip code)

If I knew who owned that gaming website, I would gladly bomb his site's server with tons of explosives and see what he can do.

I should imagine a huge security problem could easily arise. Anyone could easily flood the server with random infomation.

Yes, if the server has a firewall, it would be rather difficult to hit it.

I've seen a similar idea used on a gambling wesbite believed to be fraudulent. Someone created something in html which would register many fake members on the fraudulant gambling website which eventually cased the website to crash I believe.

Yes it was, however a large percentage of the online community does not believe in such vigilante behaviour.
