Dns resolution problem

When looknstop firewall is running then my programs are not able to resolve names like www.yahoo.com . Even when i ping it says unkown host nor internet explorer can find it . But when i close firewall then it works veryy fine and resolves names properly . My lan connection by isp uses external dns servers address . i know that address so what kind of rule should i make for dns resolution to work ??
