Yes, really great job, runs very fine on my 98 box. However I cannot find the setup dialog to create mirror copies of the virus signature files. The present stable version provides a way to create these to burn them on a CD. I have my system partitioned into various partitions and thus would really like to have this option again in order to update the other partitions. Am I just too blind to find this option or is it missing in the beta and if so, will it be in the final?
The help file mentions that the "mirror copies" options are available in the admin mode (same as in present stable version), but they aren't...
One last remark: The scanning speed has improved on my system, although the memory usage is higher. The most noticeable effect is that Amon is scanning more quickly when opening runtime packer compressed exes.
And one final: When checking the "scan all files" option in the scan target selection, the extension list turns white (ie empty) rather than greyed out...bug or feature?
That's it for now, will have some more testing now...:).

I LLLIIIKKKEEE IT!
;D
I had to change the email settings back to normal.. The modules are basically the same with more features in it.. IT HAS QUARANTEE!
No more 3 icons in the tray, and I can't find the "throbbing NOD" from AMON, anywhere.. I see a more conventional virus warning screen when I executed Eicar..
I MISS MY THROBBING NOD!
Otherwise, seriously, folks.. It looks WONDERFUL!
Congrats to the guys at ESET!

Hmmm...still can't find the mirror setup, although the help file definitely mentions it ???, but well...one thing I like about this new version is the fact that it got much more difficult to remove the amon protection from memory. In the present version a simple terminating of the process seems to be enough, now that removes only the GUI, nice improvement! :)

Well, I don't have any screenshots at the moment, but at least the mystery of the file extension selection is solved: sometimes reading the help file helps ;). When selecting to scan all extensions the file extension list serves as an exclusion list...hmmm...new feature, but seems to be a useful one...

WOW! Great work Eset!! :) :)
I only had a minor problem (as long as it doesn't occur again) and that was that I had ALL my email since Dec 19 suddenly dump into my inbox again when I first opened OE after installing NOD 32 beta. I am assuming this occured because I leave a copy of all mail on the server for five days so I can d/l to Mozilla mail if I want in addition to OE. I assume that is where the double copies of all the mail I had already read came from today? Is this going be a problem if I leave a copy on the server? I had a LOT of duplicate email to delete today!!
Otherwise, everything went smoothly and I LOVE the new interface. Sleek and easy to use. A minor note, the deep turquoise color is the very color of my automobile and I love that color!
OOOOPS!!! I just found a MAJOR BUG!!! or I have some setting wrong, but I can't see what it could be. HELP! :( :( Looks like I have to go back to the old version. Unless someone can tell me how to get OE 5.5 to place a copy of a sent message into the sent folder. It is no longer doing this!! Plus, a minor detail, but I don't see any notification, on the emails I have sent as tests to myself at other email addresses and to a friend, that the mail was scanned and found free of viruses. The help manual says that is supposed to be on the email. Why would OE suddenly stop placing a copy of the sent mail into the sent folder??? Why would this new version of NOD32 affect that???? I checked my OE settings and I still have the box "save copy of sent items in sent items folder" checked so OE should be saving the items, but it not doing so since I installed NOD32 ver. 2 beta.
:) :) :) Messages are now being saved in the sent items folder in OE!!! From all four of my addresses. I didn't change any settings or anything. But I do have finicky W98SE. So, I rebooted and opened OE and sent a test message again. It still wouldn't save the message. So, I closed OE then reopened and on the third reopening, OE started saving the sent messages again. HOORAY!! Because I love this NOD32. I sure didn't want to have to go back to the earlier version.
PLUS, now the sent messages have the notification that NOD32 checked them! That is so NEAT! :)

Well.......I think I like it :) I have a couple of questions though. So far I have installed it on a Win2K machine and I have a module named "NMS". What the heck is it? I see nothing in the help files about it so I have it disabled at the moment. I had one spontanious reboot in the begining while reading the help files. I then disabled "NMS" since I didn't know what it was for.
I want to get rid of Norton AV on my father's computer and install Nod32 as part of a Christmas present tomorrow. Will this Nod32 2.0 beta for Win9X work ok on a Win95 machine? Will it run as a trial on his computer since I haven't purchased a key for him yet?
Thanks,
Buddy

So, OK -- where is Rodzilla and the boyz when you need them. ;D
A couple of questions, guys. Did you uninstall your registered version first or install on top? Either way, does the beta still show as a registered copy? I *really* want to give this puppy a test drive but I don't want to chance screwing up my registration and having to go through that tap dance. From the screen shots, it appears to use the same update files. Is that the case?
Thanks!

same question here.
1-do you need to uninstall the paid for version?
2-will it effect your registration once its out of beta?
3-please someone post the correct procedure on install
if its asking for username and password.

I have the same questions as Hayc59.I've been waiting for this program to be released in a final version. But,hey!! This beta sounds very stable on xp.I'll give it a shot if someone can answer the questions Hayc59 posted.I don't want to risk screwing up my registration of the current version if something does go wrong.I think that's unlikely, but I want to make sure I cover all my bases.

Hi all!
This is Recommended Procedure:
Uninstall your old (current version of NOD32) then reboot!
After reboot install NOD32 2.0
During installation chose first install option "typical"!
U can enter your username and password during installation!
Your registration info will be just fine. User name and Password give you access to nod32.com update server for duration of your license (ex. 1 or 2 years)! Since NOD32 2.0 uses the same update servers I don’t see any problem there.
****After you completed installation, reboot your computer once again!****

i do my own scans and updates and would like to keep it that way, how do you set it up to accomplish this??
thanks so much for all your help!!

Thanks for the info, Tim. It sounds like the reg will hold in the beta. That's good news. 8)
I have the scanning problem with AMON in the current release version on a couple of files. Although I don't *like* to, I excluded them from scanning in the config. Did you check to see if that option still exists in the beta? I would want to find out why the two files you named are trying to run that many times though. That Compaq file sounds like a phone home deal and I would want to know what update.ini is trying to update. They just might be working together.

To get rid of NOD32 email message!
Go to Control Center---> Click IMON--> Click SET UP--> Under “append Notification to email” click no notification.
Answer to 2nd question.
Go to Control Center---> Click scheduler/planner---> uncheck regular NOD32 update.

Hi guys:
I have been waiting for the new NOD to come out before changing Av's. Looks good from the screenies posted BTW.
Q: Being a current non-user, non-registered person, if I download NOD beta, can I try it out, or do I have to purchase it up front.
I definitely would want to trial it first, before dumping PC-Cillin as I am completely happy with that at the moment.
TIA.

I did not uninstall NOD32 first. Instead, I went to MSConfig (W98SE) and unchecked, in start up, the NOD32 items. Then I rebooted. Then I installed the beta version. I did not have to put in my my user name and password. They were already present. Somewhere in the install process there something about returning user..something like that. All my settings were remembered except for "scan all files". Of course, maybe my settings are the default ones in the new NOD so I'm not sure they carried over as the scan all files did not.

Hi CrazyM: thanks :)
I will wait a bit yet. I have downloaded but not installed. I really am reluctant to do so at the moment, as my PC-cillin is so easy to run and use, particularly the inbuilt FW which runs in conjunction with Kerio with NO probs.
I would still want to maintain that feature of PC-Cillin. Maybe I could disable the scanning/real time/pop3 and just have firewall running then install NOD.
When I get time after xmas will do do...
