Which one would you use, I am considering NOD32 and I currently use F-prot. I got a slow computer so I need something light and effective.

I use both. F-Prot on demand and NOD resident. Both are fast scanners real time.
On demand, F-Prot currently is a little faster, on MY machine.
thanks

Thanks, I'll move F-prot to back up and try out NOD32

what are the advantage of NOD32 using as resident instead of F-Prot?

NOD32 finds more nasties than F-Prot.

{QUOTE-> what are the advantage of NOD32 using as resident instead of F-Prot? <-QUOTE}Pros - Better overall trojan like malware detecting because of the capability to handle unpackers with NOD.
Cons - NOD should have focused even more on worms overall and Exploits (only a few scanners do have a good Exploits detecting rate).
No other scanner is so low on resources than F-Prot.
Best regards,

In the latest test of AV-comparitives NOD32 blows F-Prot out of the water...

See the comments here http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=56704
which explain the results of the comparatives test in an unbiased way
Both NOD & F-prot are good scanners and protectors, Personally I prefer NOD as I tried F-prot and just didn't like it ( Like any AV, detection and cleaning is very important but ease of use is also important and I prefer the useability of NOD over F-prot. Nothing wrong with F-Prot I just wasn't comfortable using it )

In my case, I prefer the configuration options in the NOD rt scanner.

Also, i think its s'posed to be faster, lighter and better heuristics.
Most ppl. here will attest to that.

Depends upon the nasty ;)
{QUOTE-> In the latest test of AV-comparatives NOD32 blows F-Prot out of the water. <-QUOTE}
{QUOTE-> The complete view of an AV really comes by looking at both the retrospective and demand style tests published by av-comparatives.org/. They quantify different aspects of AV performance. <-QUOTE}
Therefore, using this criteria, overall both NOD and F-Prot are very good AV's.
{QUOTE-> what are the advantage of NOD32 using as resident instead of F-Prot? <-QUOTE}
On NT systems, there are no configuration options for the RTM of F-Prot and at the present time F-Prot 3 can be considered as a real 'bare bones' scanner.
NOD32 is probably the most improved AV of late, particularly in trojan detection and the other new features incorporated in the new version 2.
Both are fine AV's, but at the present time, IMHO, NOD would be the better primary scanner with F-Prot being an excellent choice as a backup scanner.

Blackcat, I couldn't have said it any better my self; F-Prot is an excellent on-demand scanner but not "world class" like Nod32.
