Just wondering, as a total newcomer here, why threads are suddenly closed without explanation---Tried to find about it in help sections, etc., and can't ascertain an answer. Any elucidation, folks? ???

threads are sometimes closed for a variety of reasons. And if a poster has gone to far off topic sometimes the post will be closed for that. But it is very rare for a thread to be closed with leaving a messege to the reason. Do have a link to a particular thread?

The thread I am curious about, which I started, got very lengthy- and I basically ceased to be the source of its focus once I reverted to ME instead of XP (its focus) for the time being--- but I don't feel it was irrelevent or irreverent to many users, nonetheless- to the contrary, informative. Wondering why the authorities around here shut it down.... :-\

couldn't find who closed it. I opened it back up as long as it stays on topic.

We had another thread going here recently about "censorship" (not my term, believe me). And in that one, I complimented the mods and admins and pointed out that with extremely rare exceptions (probably just oversights, when they're trying to do a dozen things at once), they always leave a brief explanatory note behind when a thread (or even just a post in one) is removed.
