View Full Version : How Embarrassing!

I can't beleive how embarrassing this is. I just installed NSW 2003 today, and everything was working fine - until I set a password for my options on NAV. Now, when I try to go back into options, it won't accept the password I thought I put into it.
Anyone know how I can discover what the machine thinks my password is - and change it to the one I thought I put in?
Thanks,
A highly embarrassed Jack :(

Hi Jack Ryan
I thought to reply if I could help any.....
When it comes to passwords, JackR, always pay attention if you are using SHIFT key or not, it´s very important, if you didn´t know yet.

Thanks, Ari. Tried that already. Didn't work. Any other ideas?
Peace,

Try password recovery suite, if it could reveal your passwords ;)

Hmm, can't seem to access the link to download the product. And am not sure if it works for Win XP?? Thanks, though, Ari. - Jack.

With NIS2003 there is an option at the beginning of the uninstall routine to deal with password issues. Not sure if this would be there for NSW/NAV 2003.
Try Add/Remove Programs, NSW/NAV, Change. That is where this option is for NIS2003.
Anything in the Help file?

No sweat Jack, Here is a bunch of free password recovery tools, pick yours, by the way, copy and paste the link if you are not able to click it. I do not allow windows or any program to remember passwords for my secure you know, so if I lost one I would be lost too.

Had a look at those password programs. None of them seemed to be exactly what I wanted, though perhaps I didn't look long enough. In the end I just decided to reinstall NAV - worked like a charm, and was a piece of cake. I guess I was just hoping to find something a little easier - in the end, the reinstallation was fine.
Thanks again,
Jack

amazingly, i did not find anything in the symantec kb about forgotten passwords. i would post in the support forum at symantec. or you could first try uninstalling the program, and then re-installing it. 'don't know if that will help or not.
