Did you know, you can actually email Bill Gates. Do you think he actually reads his own emails or do you think he gets someone else to read it for him?

Of course billy reads his own e-mail. You're asking the obvious.

I'm from Silicon Valley, and a pal of mine was once part of Bill's Bubbas up north of us-- worked in the inner sanctum of the King.
Not only can BG not possibly read his own email daily, but something like 12 executive assistants (paid handsomely, mind you) do nothing each day but field his email for him.
About 20 emails from "VIPS" get through the screening (though most legitimate emails from such folks are headed to the legal department, or marketing heads, or whatnot, not to BigBill) and that few "worthy" communiques make it into his INBOX each day, along with an intermittent "John Q. Public" one, carefully selected by staff, that he answers for PR sake.

I wonder how many of us count as VIP's?

Well- did you go to Harvard, Princeton, Yale or Stanford ( or Williams, Swarthmore, Middlebury or Amherst???) And after that did you get your law degree or business degree at H, P, Y, or Stanford (or for good measure, Berkeley, Northwestern, NYU, or Columbia) ? And THEN, did you follow prescriptive protocol and suck up for years to ascend the corporate ladder, affording yourself the requisite Mondays for hangovers and Wednesdays for golf? And constantly brown-nose/follow the leader with expertise? Stay in uniform and get the kids into the best private schools? Meanwhile commanding 6+ figured pay by 40? Or better yet, did you get to skip a lot of that stuff because you were born into big bucks to begin with, are the party type who's always included at various snobby shindigs because you unfailingly show up, and reliably get more toasted than anyone there, keeping the heat off of everyone else? THEN, you MAY be a VIP.

Well i go to a reasonable well known school in the UK, so none of above.
I have studied law in my own time, mainly using books and visiting courts.

Hmmm, above Jim wrote
"you can actually email Bill Gates"
is it a stupid question, but if the quote is true, then why nowhere on the MS website you can find an email address for him? Not even on his personal website pages (via linking through the Redmond office) ..

Bill Gates has a dedicated team that reads HIS emails. After removing all the spam and the complaints about Windows, Bill Gates gets the emails that praise him into heaven.
Why is Windows so unsafe ? Billion Gates doesn't know, his people just don't tell him the truth.
You don't talk about a few glitches in Windows, when you need your monthly paycheck. ;)

I vote he is lazy. Shows in the latest announcement to completely end support for 98/Me which won his firm such popularity and support.

OMG how funny this is
If you were the richest person in the intire world as King Solomon was, do you think you would read e-mail? oh that's a big DUH?
Why even fanticize about it at all? He has enough money to build impires, to build countries, to buy any official.
Yea people hate rich people because they never will be but he was a collage drop out. Give some credit, if he was just starting out and you heard he was a dropout , you would be all for him. The young never lived thru those times.
Poor Bill started out in a garage and look at him now!!!
Hardley LAZY duh?
STOP posting bull S---

-{ Quote: "I get about 100 e-mails a day. We apply filtering to keep it to that level—e-mail comes straight to me from anyone I've ever corresponded with, anyone from Microsoft, Intel, HP, and all the other partner companies, and anyone I know. And I always see a write-up from my assistant of any other e-mail, from companies that aren't on my permission list or individuals I don't know. That way I know what people are praising us for, what they are complaining about, and what they are asking." }-

Fascinating. I know I have two monitors on both my desktop and my Laptop(desktop replacement). I'd be lost without them. One does get spoiled.
Ron thanks for finding that interesting read.

I assume that Bill Gates also has to save money first to buy his digital whiteboard next year.

He will read his email, of course, but if he's away, I guess his office will deal with it. I have heard of others doing the same. At the end of the day, he'll go back and read the stuff that matters.

I don't know, but if he does, he couldn't possibly read all of it and I'm sure that others are right and that he has employees ciphering through it.

Let's see.......Retired as CEO, 50+ billion dollars....Oh sure I'd read my own email. Can you imagine how many moochers would be hitting him up for funds and how many EXPERTS would be bitching about HIS software. If you don't have the money: make it. If you don't like the software; write a better one. He did both. But just my opinion, and you know what THEY say about opinions.
