Anyone into cruising? Cruise ships that is. What line do you like the best, and what destinations?

Gimme a break.........Chance would be a fine thing......... ;D ;D...The last time I was on a 'Cruise Ship' it was bringing me back home to the UK after doing National Service in Korea and the Canal Zone....we played deck games like 'Throw one of the Thieving Crew Overboard' and 'Guess whose contracted a Venereal Disease'.....the ten days aboard the S.S. Empire Fowey just flew by..........Oh! and another highlight was when we stopped off at Valetta in Malta for a couple of hours to take on a Regiment of the Green Howards where we played the game of finding something heavy enough to drop on the 'Bumboats' that come out trying to flog you stuff in the hope of maybe sinking one.....Ahhhh! Cruisin' you just can't beat it..and just to top it off.....one day out from arriving at Southampton we had a Boat-drill which took four hours and when we got back to our Bunks we found half our pressies for our families had been nicked.....I really enjoyed the experience.. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

Considering how many people get sick on them, what they pay the crew (nada), the "stuff" they dump in the ocean??

I'll wait for my own cruise ship! ;D :D

Loooooool!....Don't let me put you off Cruising....my experience was in 1954.. ;D ;D.....From what I've been told Cruise Liners don't have sails now...personally I find that hard to believe....if they don't have sails, how do they move??....... ;D ;D

These are stories and facts from cruises NOW;D Mostly from AAA and other reputable travel companies, who don't want to be involved with the mess. Seems the more things change, the more they stay the same!?!

I'll wait until my OWN ship comes in, sails or not!! ;D ;D

You can't fool me Ron....That's either a Space-ship or a figment of your imagination...Right?

Sounds like the non-cruisers have been sitting at the computer screen way to long.

I bet the average digital head here is 55+, fat, balding and divorced, twice. And no doubt missing their front teeth from communicating with a stick in their mouth while scratching their tummy. Am I right?

Aaah, did we hit a nerve?? Cruise(s) aren't for everyone, a ship jammed full of people, bathrooms that flow over, ships dumping "who knows what" in the ocean, workers sharing a few tips cuz they don't get paid a living wage?

Yea, sounds like a good time to me, not!

cruising can/is a lot of fun - it all boils down on what u choose to do. Have done two so far and cancelled a third for 2005 due to change of plans which took priority.

A man after my own heart. No chopsticks in this mouth.
Looking forward to the January 19 sailing to the south Pacific.

Unless your flying in by helicopter from LA (you may well be, they do have a landing pad for the rich) you'll need to board the ship like the rest of us. See you there on the 17th of January 2005.

I think I liked the 'Woody' better Marja.....looks safer...that guy really looks like he knows what he's doing, whereas the second boat looks kind of thin, pointy and HEAVY......I'll stick with wood...if it was good enough for Noah it's good enough for me.....I've always been of the opinion that boats are better than planes for one reason, I can swim like a fish if the boat sinks but if the plane.....I just don't have the ability to flap my arms fast enough to make a safe landing....... ;D ;D

Have you noticed that 100% of all Shark attacks occur in water......in Woolworths or Maceys the attacks are 0%....I think the facts speak for themselves....I rest my case....

I've done it before - that snopes is REAL good stuff - especially when you know one of those people who always forwards you an email saying Bill Gates is gonna give you money for forwarding it, etc - all that garbage is well covered in the "inboxer rebellion" section ;D

Well back to the subject at hand, I don't think cruise ships are all that they're cracked up to be. Cause when they "crack up" very, very bad things can happen. :'(

Marja
November 9th, 2004, 06:54 PM
BJ!! That looks more like a power plant that ran over a Mississippi riverboat!!!

Where were you taking those poor people?? Still trying to build your own Time Traveling machine, I see!! Hmmmmmmm!

Were you the water skiier behind the Helicopter too?
Thought so!!

That was my first and last cruise. That is how I ended up like this. I bet you all have wondered how my skin got so ghostly white? Man I tell you. That water was cold. And my head's still spinning from the experience. And my eyes constantly going back and forth? I'm still looking for icebergs. I never should have bought those tickets on the RMS Titanic. :o

Celine Dion singing "My Heart will go on" while the ship was sinking didn't help either! 8) :lurking:
