Got a user who has installed NOD32 on a Novell 5.1 server. On the server he has a HP Tape Backup unit installed running with the Novell supplied backup software. Pre NOD32 installation everything worked ok but after installation the backup does not work correctly. It appears as if it is doing the backup but never closes out the session hence the backup does not complete.

If he UNLOADs NOD32 the problem is still present hence my conclusion is that some part of NOD32 is clashing with the backup NLM ....

Have you encountered this problem before?

Richard

Hi Richard,

I don't remember anything like this, anyway this shows:

it is not certain if this has been caused by NOD. The user could check if it's not due to something else. We'll take a look at that too and let you know if we find something. :)

The problem DID NOT exist before NOD32 was installed and a duplicate/mirror server does not exhibit the problem .... I am not sure which version of NOD32 for Netware was installed and the servers are not internet connected so it would not have updated to the latest version.

I have never installed the Novell version so I rely on you expertise.

Are there any questions I should ask of the user?

Richard.

The user should describe the problem closer and write if there are any error messages.
