I run solely Nod32 as an anti-virus due to the following reasons which are in random order, like my thought processes ;)

1. Does not slow my system down at all, it is left on even playing LAN games.

2. 100% Awards at www.virusbtn.com

3. Fast scanning.

4. Small updates.

5. Ability to tweak and play with settings.

6. It actually works, as in stops Viruses and Trojans ;) Seen too many systems come through my shops infected using the worlds largest AV.

7. Plays well together with all of my other software.

I use nod as my on access and panda platinum 7 as backup/on demand I use them because I darn well want to and because they work and that is that. ;D

I'm running avast free edition,along with boclean as my anti trojan. Hope that isn't to much technical jargon. Like *Sweetie*, I run online scans with trendmicro, and pandasoftware about once a week.

"currently are the best...." I do not know the best... I do like my Command AV once it is set up it is very simple, resource light program, it's not so I am here and in your face like many AV programs. I like the little wrapped gifts that show it is time for an update. No splash screens showing: eyeballs, bugs, big K's yellow stethescopes, (spelling?), flags, magnification glass, pill jars, well you get the picture. It is likely one of the reasons I like BoClean too. Simple and they do the job. Save all those fancy screens for what computers were really used for fun. Speaking of pain and fun................

im using NOD this year because i felt like a change from Vet . I also use Extendia Kav ( single engine for $8 )because kaspersky dropped the kav lite and $8 is a lot better than $39 . They both play extremely well together.

;D AVG. No fuss, no muss and no one left on base. (oops that's baseball).

AVG. I find it easy to use and easy to maintain. The updates when required are also easy to down load and install.

anyone seen bitdefender v7... it's free (v8 costs money) and both have the EXACT SAME definition files.
Bitdefender is free for linux, and PCQuest (in India, I believe) have already released a linux distro based on knoppix, that uses BitDefender for Linux and they call it LinuxDefender Live!. It's really useful, as it's an AV on a bootable CD.
Point to note: Bitdefender has replaced McAfee in some EU markets already.

I am using eTrust for Netware:

Although an old-timer in the VB Comparatives, this was the first test for version 7 of eTrust on Windows XP. The new version had one major advantage as far as installation was concerned, in that only one update file was needed rather than the accumulation of patches required in the past. Detection rates for eTrust were also good. No files were missed in the ItW test set and, combined with no false-positives in the clean set, another VB 100% award is earned by CA. eTrust's scanning rates were at the more speedy end of the scale.

I'm very happy with F-Prot. It is the ONLY non bloated av I have tried. I hate bloat. I also hate email scanners. F-Prot has none. F-Prot is a breath of fresh air after my moving from NAV because it was bloated to NOD32 only to see it become bloated. Even the free AVs I tried were "cutesy" and bloated.
F-Prot only uses 3,764K (with the scheduler turned off and the XP SP2 stuff turned off) yet it has a powerful scanning engine. It also detects viruses in archives without the need to unzip. All AV should do that.

My XP Pro box can easily handle bloat. I saw no slow down at all with KAV 4.5 set to scan everything possible. Even so, I hate bloated anything. I think AV companies need to stop the bloat.

Unfortunately, it may become a little more bloated in its up and coming version 4, but hopefully not too much.

Sometime, give Dr Web and AVP 3.5 a trial run. Both have very small memory footprints.

Running without the email scanner, Dr Web has only a 1092K footprint and packs a lot inside a very small overall package. With a custom install, it is only taking up 2.98MB hard disc space.

AVP 3.5, is very similar to F-Prot; a bare-bones AntiVirus with no email scanner. As a primary AV, this only takes up 1612K on another one of my computers.

AVP uses the same definitions as the later KAV engines so detection should be nearly as good as KAV 4.5/5. It only lacks the new memory scanner for stealthing trojans in the later versions.

Although it is nearly 4 years old now, AVP can still give you very good protection against both viruses and trojans. In particularly on older computers, or for those people like Mele, who do not like bloat, it is still an AV to consider.

I use Dr. Web as Resident :-\ AV. And just in case Dr. Web finds something that I'm unsure about I call in a Specialist, Dr, Kaspersky who is usually right 99.7% of the time, That's not to technical :-\ :-\ :-\ *puppy*

I'm using KAV 5.0 Personal and really like the update frequency and the ease of use. Several said it slowed your system, however I'm not experiencing it. Maybe because I've a P4 2.6 and 1 GIG RAM. ;D
Tried once to have BitDefender 8.0 as on demand, but they didn't play well together, so I uninstalled it. Pity, because I'm still licensed. :P
Oh well ... you can't have everything in life. ::)
