Let me start off by saying I use M|RU blaster quite often and I have a copy of SpywareBlaster (that I just updated - thank JavaCool).

Now I do have a very annoying question about FileChecker (which I have also), what is it's purpose? I mean does it warn you after the fact or can it prevent the changes from being made? Is it an "early warning system" telling the user of impending danger or does it actually protect somehow?

Someone please answer these annoying questions I have :)

There are programs such as NISFileCheck that perform periodic scanning of all the files on your system to see if they have changed. FileChecker does almost the same thing, but performs it in real-time.

So yes, it notifies you after the fact - but in this way you DO know something has been changed (otherwise, some viruses/malicious programs can edit files on your system so they still function, but have the modified code in them).
