Will NOD32 detect this new "friendly" worm that actually askks for permision to copy your address book?
It supoosedly is a Postcard that you have to download a plug in for, rather than explain the whole thing, here is the link;

Maybe NOD32 already detects this..This "legal" worm is written out of Panama from a company called "Permsioned Media., or something like that..

When will the line be drawn?

What kind of worm will be legal or not?
Does it matter?
Should AntiVirus software ignore these "legal" worms, that ask for your permission first?
What is ESET's stand on this?

I see from a couple of updates ago that "friendgreet" is detected by NOD32. It's probably the same same nasty. Isn't it just a crying shame how some people act? To think of a EULA in a worm?

Straight Shooter,

This isn't a virus - nor a worm. Although the tactics used are very questionable, in the end it all comes down to: read EULA's before installing/accepting installs. That's common sense and logic IMO.

In not doing so, and therefore accepting the EULA, nothing illegal nor "virus/wormlike" happens - merely a user accepting what is described and is going to happen.

I'm not a spokesman for Eset - but in my opinion this doesn't belong in an antivirus database (like F-Secure correctly states).

regards.

If you're using the HOSTS file, you could add there the following sites so they will be blocked:

friend-greeting.com or .net,
friendgreetings.com or .net,
cool-downloads.com or .net,
friend-greetings.com or .net,
friend-cards.com or .net
