Hi TheQuest,

You might want to read this thread at SpywareInfo:
Lavasoft Support Forums Closed? (http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/index.php?showtopic=28952&pid=126380&st=0&#entry126380) :-\

Hi, puff-m-d and snapdragin

Same as I am [was] getting.

So does that mean no more Lavasoft Support Forum.

Thank you both for getting back.

The expiration date on the DNS record was Oct 3, 2004 so more likely than not this is just one of those all to common domain name renewal problems. They are very likely working hard on resolving it.

No, looks like the "Dark Lord of SWI" himself (Mike Healan) will pick it up for them if they don't catch it in time, then transfer it back over. ;)

:)

Ooops! Sorry LWM, didn't see your post. Dang you're quick! :D

I am sure there will still be a forum, but we will just have to wait and see what happens.... It might be that they have to come up with a new domain name if they let it expire and somebody else jumped on it... But all is just speculation at the moment.... Only time will tell...

Hi, puff-m-d

Thanks once again. :)

I haven't been over there in a while so don't know if Lavasoft is still active there, but in addition to their "home" forums Lavasoft also used to have some at subratam's excellent Kill Spyware (http://forums.subratam.org/) forums. Try taking a look there too?

It's working fine now. Up and running.

**I have taken the link out because of Ronjor's post below**

I just clicked on it and still got the redirect from here. It may take time to propogate the DNS updates.

Referring to this post.

I guess I wasn't aware a domain name could be snatched so quickly if you let it expire.

Thanks Ronjor ...

Didn't realise someone would be waiting in ambush when click on the link.

hmmm ... OK in that case I will edit my link just in case someone got some nasty surprise.

Cheers

What the heck is going on? Earlier I was getting the message that the domain had expired. Then later I saw that it had been renewed and I thought the reason I couldn't get to the site still was a DNS issue but it seems that should have resolved by now. (It has been 24 hours since I saw that the domain had been renewed). Anyhow, now Proxo reports:

Host Name Lookup Failed

The Proxomitron couldn't find the site named...
www.lavasoftsupport.com
Check that the name is correct. If so, the site may have changed or may no longer exist.

Others at dslreports also are getting the same message.

I looked up their IP address and pinged it in Ping Plotter and got reverse.theplanet.com.

I just clicked on the link you left Mele20, no problem here (~ 7:30 AM east coast US time), the support site comes up fine. Guess it's still a matter of propogation of the information.

I'm STILL getting "Host Lookup Name Failed". :(

When I try to update the definitions (I don't have the latest), I get told I have the latest, but that is not true.

Someone definately got to tell Lavasoft about this.

It's creating too much uncertainty.

Well, I still cannot get there and cannot get new definitions! I have old ones. This is disgusting. :( :( :( They should not put the definitions on the support site.

Why does it take this long to propogate the DNS updates???? This is a very poor way to have a healthy internet.

I just clicked on Tassie Devil's link posted above and went there immediately. There were 403 guests and members online.

The latest defs for the SE version are at this link if you can't get to lavasoftusa.com

http://download.lavasoft.de.edgesuite.net/public/defs.zip

Looking for the correct support page looks like a wild goose chase at this point.

Still can't connect to lavasoftsupport.com. I also looked up the IP and got to CPanel page with that.

tracert says can't resolve. No ping.

Manual check for updates Adaware SE 1.05 did not show latest update available (I downloaded it from http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/). That always worked fine before. Is it related problem?

Anyone know what the current IP address is?

Searching for lavasoftsupport.com A record at f.root-servers.net Got referral to J.GTLD-SERVERS.NET. [took 91 ms]
Searching for lavasoftsupport.com A record at J.GTLD-SERVERS.NET. Got referral to ns1.systemips.com. [took 202 ms]
Searching for lavasoftsupport.com A record at ns1.systemips.com. Reports an answer.

Record is:

Domain Type Class TTL Answer
lavasoftsupport.com. A IN 3600 67.18.82.90

But if you try to ping you will get NS2.theplanent.com.
So I still can't ping the IP or the domain. But I can now get to the support board and got the update.

My main concern is def updates -- I can get the zip from their download page OK, but "Check for updates" in A-A itself keeps giving me "no updates available".

If you do go the manual-update zip route, which may be the only choice for a while, don't forget to backup the previous defs (into the .old file) before you overwrite them with the new ones, assuming you want to keep backups (I think that's the default setup).
