I've seen some pretty awesome desktop sidebars, so I went to their site and read as much as I could. Some ppl say they have a few problems, others swear by them. What do ppl think about them here? Appears a bit more complicated than just down loading some skins. How are they on resources? I was thinking about trying them tomorrow after I put some more RAM in here, but haven't really obtained as much info on them as I would like before I d/l.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks to all,
Kathy :)

You need a good graphics card with plenty of ram and a fairly fast processor to enjoy skinning of any type in my experience.
Even small skinned applications take a lot of memory.

They have made a lot of progress with giving Desktop Sidebar a smaller footprint. I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with an onboard graphics card, a P-IV 2.2 GHZ processor and 768 Megs Ram which is definitely not a high end machine. I skin either Window blinds or DS with PSP 9 open as well as the sidebar running. Right now it is using about 6,000K showing on the Task Manager. WB is using 500K. Tried to post a pic, but the 100k limit on size is a lost cause.
Desktop sidebar can be used by simply using already made plugins and panels. It does come with a skinning engine and I have been learning by trial and error how to skin. It gives me something to do when I'm bored. There is a lot of help at the DS forum for people just starting to use it.
I'm an old hippy ex drunk with few brain cells left and I know if I can pick this stuff up, anyone can. When I first looked at skinning a couple of years ago it was unimpressive and very difficult to do anything with. It is really a fun deal if you can get interested in it now.

Thanks for your responses Root and Ronjor, gives me a little bit more to go on.
I've now gotten 640MB of RAM, but maybe a little iffy on the graphics card, so it might be something to look into with a newer machine.
