Hi !
Some time ago I tried the Port Explorer 1.8. Seing there is now a 2.0, can't seem however to find an account of what is new/fixed/modded in this version, neither in this Forum nor the download pages. Maybe it is /too/ new :;)
On another but related note, knowing that I did the 1.8 trial (but did not buy) am I eligible for the 2.0 trial ? In the meanwhile I have not downloaded it.

Demo and full version are now the same version. You simply unlock the demo version with a serial key.
Windows 2003 and Windows XP SP2 support added and fully tested.
Added KILOBYTES/second information for each socket in the display. Allowing you to see the speeds each socket on your system is sending and receiving.
Added another fix to socket spy when closing the window when it is minimized
Updated country database (30% bigger), should now cover even more countries.
Reduced memory impact of Port Explorer on your system, in some cases a 20 fold decrease in physical memory utilization.
Added ability to show either local and/or remote traffic in the window log.
Added better IPv6 socket detection in the main list and in socket spy.
Fixed bug in WHOIS utility when the whois server returned too much data.
Hundreds of minor bug fixes and tweaks to increase usability, stability and reliability of Port Explorer.

I've just downloaded and installed 2.0 but it did not want to work with
my (old) unlockcode which is the same one as in the members download area
so i've uninstalled PE reinstalled it with the old keyfile, but i can't get it to work,
the only thing that happens is the message "ERROR" after i entered the unlockcode.
Do i need a new unlockcode for this new version ?
btw.. of course i copy and paste the unlockcode like i always do ..

Hi tuatara, Drop DCS support a line they have had a problem with the new key system.
Much of the problem is the database if ppl change their email address since they first got their licence, puts a spanner in the works so to speak. Gavin is addressing the issues.

Hi Blazie ;D And I thought it was your posts that needed translation whereas ours need interpretation :P :D

Unfortunatly on my system the KB/Sec readings are way off, Downloading a file on my 1Mbit ADSL gives readings of 500-750KB per sec (maximum possible is 120MB/sec)
Is this a known bug?
Thanks

Here you go, I downloaded Adobe PDF reader from www.Adobe.com using IE6.
Notice the IE6 download transfer rate is 120KByte/ sec.
Task manager was also used and shows 0.99% throughput which is about right for a 100Mbit/Sec connection
Notice that Port Explorer is showing 784.22 KByte (if only ;) ) it actualy fluctuates wildly 200 - 800 ish KBytes

i have noticed the same problem as frogfoot. socket speed readings are not correct, at least sometimes. happened for me when i downloaded a file with IE. speed was displayed correctly in IE download window as well as in outpost fw network connections window. the speed in PE was shown as ~ 4 times higher than it actually was.
