I see this funny sign the other day. Someone took a picture of it and posted it to a web page.
It was a store sign. It was (or is) a store in maine named Hussey's General Store. It said " Guns, wedding gowns and cold beer."
I thought it was funny.

30 jars are sold in Australia for every one exported.
Vegemite is a permanent fixture in nine out of ten pantries.
Vegemite is made from a blend of yeasts from a number of sources.

" }-Indeed it does: I love the stuff since my visit DownUnder in 2001 and now I'm hooked; I even got packages sent over across the globe to keep enjoying the taste and nutricion :)
Now I found an exclusive supplier here in Holland ;D .
For recipes (http://www.vegemite.com.au/index.cfm?fuseaction=recipes.welcome) (and more factfiles) look overhere:

In my childhood I ate Marmite ( I believe this is the Poms' substitute? ?:P ) but imho Vegemite tastes better/richer.
Here (http://www.evil-office.net/swirlies/rca%20for%20michael/new/marmite.htm)'s a funny survey Marmite vs. Vegemite (http://www.evil-office.net/swirlies/rca%20for%20michael/new/marmite.htm). (Beware though; possibly written by a Marmite lover...) ;)
Did you know even the Aussie Army has got the stuff in its emergency rations? Don't you just adore them OZ's ? ;D ;D ;D

For you UK people: Is Vegemite the same as Marmite ... Gotta be ;)
My opinion is that yeast should only be in bread and booze ;D

when in australia and touring their wine country [Barossa Valley] - i was told at a winery that vegemite is made from wine yeast extract. i purchased a jar there as it said it was good on toast, etc. i am afraid one has to develop a taste for it - not me though!! :(

Well now, that was quite an interesting link, and I noticed it's used sparingly with those yummy looking dinner recipes.
I like the B vitamin principle, but couldn't tolerate it on everything.
"Yeast is known as a natural source of the vitamin B complex which includes thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, folate,
pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, p-amino benzoic acid and several other compounds."
I was conveyed the importance of not wasting food from an early age, so I eat anything. Matter of fact, I don't know
of any food I wouldn't try. A lot of people are sissy's when it comes to trying something new and unusual, not this cat.
You know what they say, moderation is the key.
Granted, I may catch a couple of cracks about my above comments, but in a crisis, with limited food available,
I would survive.....
