Hi Rita,

You need a proggie that can take screenshots. The one I use is MWSnap. You can find it here: http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html
Try this one and read how to use it.
Another one is Hoversnap, find it here: http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm
Both they are freeware.
Cheers,

Gerard

Hm,can you use both engines simultanously for Real-Time scanning?

Hi RejZor,

Nope you have to make a choice which one will do the real time scanning.

gerardwil , the snapshot of your system says 7.0.0402 . However the version from Excid that you posted a link too says 7.0.142 . I am wondering if that link version is a trial version that you eventually need to pay for from Excid after 90 days etc .

Where did you download your version from Ritaann . did you use the link that Bigc posted and then fill out the registration etc . Or did you download from another source .

Hi Candle,

Strange it is with that version number. However I have an original eTrust AV (boxed) with 4 year update service. On the package is this link to Excid.
When I updated the prog from that link I saw passing by some files which are needed for the AV to auto-update if running SP2. Those files you also can install manually according to an e-mail I get from CA. (not 100% sure about this :-\)

I read that from that site That you posted . I am on xp and have sp2 and with my etrust there has never been an issue with updates while running the xp firewall . I mostly use Look n stop but wanted to try the xp firewall out. So I am wondering about that and if its really necesary . I wouldnt load it up unless you need to as It adds itself to the exceptions in the windows firewall and that is not really the best and may leave doors open . If you do add it or have already it wouldd be interesting to do a port scan and see if you attain full stealth or you fail with this . However as i mentioned I have not needed it to gain updates either manual or auto . There has about 3 months ago been a update to drivers for e trust and that included version 7 . They are available alsofor the promo version.

Ritaann if the free promo is no longer available then you might wish to download the free year EZ anti virus which has the Vet engine and is excellent .It comes with a firewall also if you need it , They give you a free licence for a year . Its very good http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/

Some more info (difficult to find at CA):

eTrust Antivirus
New Cumulative Patches - V6.0 and 7.0

We are pleased to announce the release of our Cumulative Fixes for eTrust Antivirus 6.0 (QO54194) and eTrust Antivirus 7.0 (QO54195). These cumulative fixes include all published fixes up to and including the cut-off date specified and are applicable to all language environments.

The cumulative fix allows clients to patch their system in a single step as opposed to applying each published fix individually. The automated install for these fixes contain modules that are common to all environments. Certain fixes are applicable to specific environments only and have been included in the .CAZ file but will not be applied as part of the automatic install. They will have to be applied manually (instructions are provided in the readme.txt) .

We have also introduced a new version scheme in order to keep track of what patch level a system is at. For eTrust Antivirus 6.0 and eTrust Antivirus 7.0, the version will have the following format: 6.0.0401 The first two numbers (6.0 for eTrust Antivirus 6.0 and 7.0 for eTrust Antivirus 7.0) indicate the version of the product while the last 4 would indicate the year and month when the fix was released. To check the version number of your product, right-click on the Realmon icon in the System tray and select "About".

@ritaann,

It is not hard to do a screenshot. You have a "Prt Sc" key on your keyboard. Just press it and past the resoult in painter and save it as .jpg.

To gerardwil from Firefighter!

Strange scanning result with Norman VirusControl concerning this MWSnap

http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html

"MIGHT BE INFECTED/MALWARE (Sandbox emulation took a long time and/or runtime packers were found, this is suspicious. Normally programs aren't packed and don't force the sandbox into lengthy emulation. Do realize no scanner issued any warning, the file can very well be harmless. Caution is advised, however.)"

But all other scanners didn't found anything suspicious in here

Best regards,
Firefighter!

Hi FireFighter,

If you have adaware and/or Spybot-S&D do a scan as well. I remember now I had same experience but not with Norman. It could also be possible Ewido detect something. For what I remember it was pretty harmless.
Was a while ago however.
