Hi iceni60! You are very welcome. Well, I don't see any problems with the Queen Boudicca for people of her generation are not likely to be around anymore
;) But I'm afraid you are right about W.Churchill, T. Roosevelt and Stalin might be too political. :) Can you email me the way you would like to be represented in

The beginning of life on earth, before the dinosaurs...

The planet earth is VERY old, about 4,600 million years.
(thats a lot of birthday candles!!!). ;D

* There was no life at all on earth for millions of years.
* The first living things lived in the sea, they were so tiny that we would not be able to see them.
* About 500 million years ago the first fish swam in the sea. There was nothing alive on the land at all.
* 435 million years ago the first plants started growing on the land.
*395 million years ago the first land animals appeared.
* 225 million years ago dinosaurs appeared.....and 65 million years ago All the dinosaurs died.
Only 2 million years ago the first human appeared.

But let see how life was at the beginning of the earth...

HI Nadirah!

This is a Time Traveling story, so we don't want to start at the ending!! :)

What do you think it was like for the first human? I have heard there were still lots of volcanoes, TONs of hot springs and water, what in the world did first man and woman think of it all?

What would you do or think if you woke up one day to find your self somewhere, nowhere, not knowing anything, only having a deep feeling that you wanted to survive??!

Join us!!

Capt Uguel,

As you commanded the last trip in fine fashion, along with bigc's help of course,
I will leave the decision making up to you.

I feel confident we will be in good hands with you at the helm.

I will man the computers to make sure we miss no info we should need along the way.

It sounds like we have the making of a fine crew and I await orders.

(Do not be alarmed if my avatar changes from time to time. I have developed some sort of neurosis and am trying to get it under control with professional help)

At the ready!

Ideals are like stars: you will not succeed in touching them with your hands, but like the seafaring man on the ocean desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them, you reach your destiny.

Greetings,

For all the time travellers in our audience, "journey to the stars" and explore the elemental forces
that shape the cosmos at Nasa's "HubbleSite (http://hubblesite.org/)". European "Homepage (http://www.spacetelescope.org/index.html) ".

Uguel, now this is one fine topic!

Viewers, do not miss the "Rose Center For Earth And Space",
you'll find it linked through this excellent page (http://www.amnh.org/home/?src=toolbar).

For those of you into space screensavers, view the ssvr gallery on the European site through thumbnails, it's much quicker...

Capt,

I rummaged around and found a house for Beetlejuice.

I think we need to be careful not to step on him accidentally.

Further, I'm curious about Pangea and the origin of the first man on earth (no- I won't start a (religious) discussion about that one- promiss :P)

Updated...

These are the times we might like to travel back to:

1. The beginning of life on earth (bigc)
2. The Pangea and the first humans (Marja,Slammer_JVA and Nadirah.
3. The Jurassic Era (Uguel)
4. The pirates (Marja)
5. The Middle-Ages (Uguel)
6. The Eighteenth Century: Le siècle des lumières or "Age of Enlightenment". (Uguel)
7. The Gold Rush (Marja)
8. A picnic in Roswell, July 8th 1947 (iceni60)
9. The 60's and the flower Power (slammer_JVA)
10.The future, various periods (Bigc, Nadirah, Peaches)

About the future, I remember that Bigc requested that we travel to the year 3000 in the Mars thread. This is what I have so far. Of course it might change a bit later on.

Peaches, I think we might use your vessel to travel into the future (if you think you have a sufficient Insurance Policy on it). ;D
If there is a period you'll be interested in, just tell me.

Iceni60, Nadirah, Global force, Acadia and Ritaan welcome to the thread! :)

Slammer, it's good to see you back! ;)

To all people who want to take part in this adventure, please email me the way you'd like to be represented in the thread, whether you want to be a human or an animal. *puppy*

Ronjor, I remember the way you would like to appear... ;)

Please remember, some of the pictures you will see in the thread might be "collages",those do not require too much time, but the drawings take more time and some may take a few days to complete but I am sure all the team members here will be patient. Of course if there is something you think I forgot, just let me know.

Also...

I have a new drawing device (Wacom Tablet) for working with digital art but since it will take me a bit of time to become accustomed to it I will not be contributing many custom images at first (but, rest assured, I will catch up with them later on. ;D )

Hey Uguel
Can I be the resident alien on this voyage?
rita

Uguel707
September 6th, 2004, 03:14 PM
I think we might use the trekking vehicle that Beetlejuice posted in the Mars thread, It seems very convenient since it can handle rough terrain, has lots of windows and there is no danger of getting a flat tire. Of course, depending on the period we may have to disguise the appearance so we do not stand out too much. :)

Do we have to go backwards in time?
Why not go forward?

You can start with me so I can make sure it is safe for the other crew members. ;D

I have to make sure to keep the crew list up to date, it would not be good to leave a crew member in the distance past. We would not want the future to be changed by such an event. 8)

bigc73542
September 6th, 2004, 11:33 PM
well I am prepaired to do a preliminary inspection, after which I believe we should try to go back to yesterday just to make sure the dilithium interchanger is going to handle the synthetic chrystals. In closed chamber test's we found out that we will not have to refuel with the synthetic where as with with natural chrystals we would have to carry 1000 lbs of spares, so the synthetic ones are making this adventure possible. The synthetic chrystal manafacturing is a direct result of knowledge we gained on the trip to mars. Everyone should have there gear at the time portal entry port at sunup so we can enter into a test jump mode. with the captains permission I think we should try to go back 48 hours and if successful then we will decide how far to go back on the first jump.

The computers are powered up. It seems I have lost a .dll file somewhere and will have to do some repair work before they are fully operational.

I will contact Micro-Universe (formally Microsoft) and see if they will help.

Would it be possible for other crew members to donate to cover the technical support costs?

I am still here, just been in the crystal reaction room resetting a few things and insuring us as safe a trip as is possible. I have removed some of the shielding covering the crystal so if you think you are getting to pale you can lay on the cot I installed in the corner and get a tan. tanning is limited to ten minutes every other day. The rays emmited by the crystal are very strong so no exceptions to the tanning time limit or I will have to enclose the crystal to ensure safety to the crew. feel free to use it per the time limits.

Tanning beds use ultraviolet rays and are damaging to the skin and eyes. The crystals in our ship emit a different type of ray. It reacts with the meletonin in the skin so it will give you a good tan with out the skin damage. But there is still a ten minute limit every other day to prevent any possibly side effects due to it's very powerful nature. ;)

That guy running security on the ship better stay out of my territory!! Uh, who is running ship security, anyway?
I heard it was some guy named "HAL". Well, my crew and I have been working day and night to plan for every time and every thing Shorty's ma can tell us about the past, she is the oldest one we know. We just hope she is old enough!

As long as there is room for your personal belongings in your sector of the storage feel free to bring it. We do not have to lift any weight with the time ship we just slip through time staying at the same location just changing time periods. For that reason I have developed a device called the look ahead. It runs a little ahead of the ship in time so we can view where we are going to appear out of the space time Continuem. We wouldn't want to materialize inside of a mountain. Or worse yet a volcano.

Song: San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair) Lyrics

If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair

All across the nation such a strange vibration
People in motion
There's a whole generation with a new explanation
People in motion people in motion

For those who come to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

Due to dust accumulation over the years, the launch site may be several feet higher than the landing destination. The support legs should be dug into the ground deep enough so the time machine will still be standing rather than floating in the air on time destination rentry. Unless it is capable of levitation or has air bags to cushion the fall.

{QUOTE-> sounds good captain, where have you decided to try for on our first jump.? <-QUOTE}

We will try to travel chronogically; so we might start with the beginning of life on earth. Just to recap, here are the periods I have so far:

These are the times we might like to travel back to:

1. The beginning of life on earth (bigc)
2. The Pangea and the first humans (Marja,Slammer_JVA and Nadirah.
3. The Jurassic Era (Uguel)
4. The pirates (Marja)
5. The Middle-Ages (Uguel)
6. The Eighteenth Century: Le siècle des lumières or "Age of Enlightenment". (Uguel)
7. The Gold Rush (Marja)
8. A picnic in Roswell,July 8th 1947 (iceni60)
9. The 60's and the flower Power (slammer_JVA)
10.The future (Bigc,Nadirah, Peaches)

So we will go into the beginning of life on earth and in the period of Pangea.
If you got any links related to that period, do not hesitate to post them!

Also, here are some jobs available for the time travel adventure ;) :

1. Biologist
2. Psychologist
3. Science Consultant, he might be Bigc's partner
4. Researcher
5. Mechanic
6. Nurse
7. Doctor
8. Security Officers
9. Technician
10.Programmer

So if you feel comfortable with one of them, just say so. :)
Once you have selected what you would like to do, you must post info, links, or pictures in relation to your field of work/knowledge. If there is stg that you would like to do and that doesn't appear here, please let us know. And a good sense of humour or posting funny comments is very well appreciated.

If it is available, I would like to be the Biologist.
With my heightened olfactory perception, I am able to analyze the biological and chemical samples obtained from the past. I will also come in handy when we go exploring. By smell alone, I can locate food within 10 miles! ;D

{QUOTE-> i knew it would be a good idea to bring my spacesuit, that bath looks very big :o , or i'm just really small :D . well i suppose next to bigc you'd expect that :)

i'll be the Doc, if its not already taken <-QUOTE}

Hey Iceni60! There will be times where you'll be starring and you will see yourself bigger of course. I started that pic slowy at the beginning of the thread without knowing how many people will join so that is why it has not much space.

Uguel707
September 13th, 2004, 08:17 PM
Not yet, maybe she'd like to be a nurse. :)
Or, as a mouse she might be useful in mechanics too! ;D

ronjor

I think she would make a great nurse! Just my opinion.

ronjor

I agree. There should be no problem too tough to work out.

ronjor

We do have a very smart crew although some are space rookies. I would suggest they prepare very well.

bigc73542
September 13th, 2004, 09:09 PM
Some of our crew seem to have the misconception that we will be in space but we won't leave the earths atmosphere if were lucky.

ronjor
September 13th, 2004, 09:14 PM
Of course, I meant to say space in relation to time. Since it will be new to all of us, who knows what may happen?

bigc73542
September 13th, 2004, 09:16 PM
I just hope no one opens the hatch while we are jumping time and falls out it would be almost impossible to go back in time and find them.

ronjor
September 13th, 2004, 09:44 PM
Global Force and Slammer will have to keep a close watch. I believe they are in the Security Group.

We will be "taking off" at 8:00 p.m.. Please fasten your security belt, for we, unfortunately, have no idea what will really happen! We are starting to turn in circles until we will be able to enter into the next state. So far so good! 8)
