This is not true. If you use a pre-check like Mailwasher or Intervene you will easily convert ALL your email to "Symantec Email Proxy deleted the following email message." The same bug has affected Norton AntiVirus 2003 and Symantec knows this from the day it was released.

As I read the referenced articles, the problem actually exists in the e-mail scanning functionality of NAV 2003, not the firewall component of NIS/NPF 2003.

Symantec has issued a fix for a serious bug within Norton Internet Security 2003 which is responsible for the unexplained deletion of emails for some users.
Users are advised to run the LiveUpdate automatic updating facility to fix the flaw.
